Special Three-Part Lecture Series:
"Nantucket's Portuguese Heritage"
Join NHA Research Fellow, Frances R. Karttunen for a special three-part lecture series on Nantucket's Portuguese Heritage. Topics will cover the location of each of the archipelagos, regional history, the reasons people migrated from these islands, and the contributions made by Azorean and Cape Verdean immigrants to Nantucket; hydrangeas, kale, linguiça, and more!

Transatlantic, by Colum McCann, is this year's book for the annual community reading project. The award winning novel spans centuries and continents with interwoven stories of both real and fictional.
In addition to the special programs listed above, the whaling museum will house a
pop-up exhibition from March 9 - 16. Artifacts and images relating to the Civil War, among other themes from Transatlantic, will be on display
in Gosnell Hall.

Through this prominent giving circle, the board of trustees acknowledges the generous total annual giving by our top individual donors to the NHA's operations.
1894 Founders Society members contribute $3,000 and upwards annually to the annual fund, membership, and fundraising events, as well as for exhibitions, educational programs, and other special initiatives.

Historic Sites & Museum Guides Wanted!

Love history? Enjoy sharing Nantucket stories with a live audience? Strive to make customer service a priority in all that you do? The Nantucket Historical Association wants to meet you!
We are currently filling part-time summer positions at the Whaling Museum and historic sites for tour guides and program leaders. These "Interpreter" positions are key to the daily operations and programs and are at the heart of our visitor experience.
