UPCOMING EVENTS
Bus Driver Job Fair

Event: SPS Bus Driver Job Fair

Where and When:  SPS Transportation Center, 2945 E. Pythian St., Thursday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Why: Springfield Public Schools is seeking applicants for a number of bus driver positions across the district. At SPS, bus drivers receive benefits for part-time work, paid training and flexible work hours. 

The Missouri Job Center Mobile Unit will be parked at the event to help job seekers with online applications and resumes. In addition, all applicants will have access to on-site interviews at the Bus Driver Job Fair.
 
Interview opportunities: Jonathan Shelden, director of transportation at SPS, will be available for interviews at the event.
KHS to host Fall Carnival for community

Event: 17th Annual Kickapoo High School Fall Carnival, featuring a haunted house, activities and games for the whole family.  Learn more.

Where and When:  Kickapoo High School, 3170 S. Jefferson Ave., Saturday, Oct. 27, 6-8 p.m. 

Why:  An annual family-friendly affair, this student-led event is also a fundraiser for Ozarks Food Harvest. The entrance fee to the carnival is a minimum of two nonperishable food items per person. The food items collected will be donated to the Ozarks Food Harvest. Last year, more than 3,000 canned goods were donated.
 
Interview opportunities: Kickapoo High School carnival sponsor Jared Wooderson, as well as student leaders of the event.

THINGS TO KNOW
Men with Kids Breakfasts support male mentorship for northside families
Each month, Central Assembly hosts a Men with Kids Breakfast for Boyd and Pipkin students. In north Springfield, 10 schools have similar programs, all supported by the Community Partnership of the Ozarks.  Learn more.

Mann students know the meaning of the word RESPONSIBILITY
At Mann Elementary School, the character word for October is "responsibility." The students demonstrated what it means by participating in a penny drive to raise money for the Child Advocacy Center Kids for Kids campaign.  Learn more.
