From Our District Superintendent

15 minutes daily.... with a goal of one hour daily.

When our understanding is open, and we have a clear notion of the hope that we have been called, things change. Then, because we know and understand, we will long to live up to the privilege that God has given us in Christ. We will live to identify and pray to reduce the distractions that defocus us from our discipleship process. Prayer will become a priority. It is a battle that has been revealed to every human being who understands God. Susanna Wesley in a letter for her son John Wesley said it this way: "Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, takes off your relish for spiritual things, whatever increases the authority of the body over the mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may seem in itself."

Just try to identify and give name and last name to those who distract and blur you from the larger goal. What is the goal of our discipleship? May Jesus Christ be formed by faith in each one of us. For what? The goal is for us to live, love and relate in community as Christ did. I challenge you to discover, as I discovered, that 15 minutes are not enough to spend in prayer with the God who loves me. I am attracted to pray, because God insists on believing that I can become what His-Her mercy has been proposed to me, an imperfect being on the way to perfection; that I can love GOD with all my being and my neighbors.
