This past Wednesday we celebrated Law Enforcement Appreciation Day honoring Officer Bledsoe. The LNMS staff and students would like to recognize the difficult, and sometimes impossible, career he has chosen. He is on campus each school day helping to provide a safe learning environment for our Knights. Thank you Officer Bledsoe and the Orlando Police Department for all you do!

Happy New Year and Welcome Back Knights!

I hope this first issue of 2019 finds you having enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends. The third nine-week marking period got off to a successful start this past week and as this issue will illustrate, January will be another busy month for our Knights.

We will be holding our regular monthly PTSA meeting on Wednesday, January 16th at 5:00 p.m. in the Media Center. These are open to all members of our school community and if you still have not made it to one this school year, please try to make this first one of 2019. Additionally, thank you so much for considering one of our upcoming PTSA Spirit Nights this month. We really depend on the PTSA and the community's support at these events is of tremendous help to their continuing efforts on behalf of the students and teachers.

And so as we begin the second school week of the new year, may 2019 bring with it good health, peace and joy to you and your family.

With Knight Pride,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.
Principal, Lake Nona Middle School

OPD School Resource Officer Bledsoe joins several of our Knights at lunch this past week.

Community Partner Spotlight
A BIG thank you to Nemours Children's Health System for their support of our Knights!

At Nemours Children's Health System, we know that children's social interactions can have a big impact on their overall health, especially in the middle school and high school years. As challenging as these years are for students, they also require teachers and administrators to be fully present for students and to find the right words to say in sensitive situations.

Dr. Lisa Spector, M.D.

To make the teaching staff's job a bit easier, Dr. Lisa Spector, Nemours Division Chief of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, will be a guest at the January 16, 2019 staff meeting and will discuss ways to identify bullying in the classroom, how best to intervene, and how to provide support tools for students.

"We also call Lake Nona home and are happy to be partners with parents and local schools to help put our community's children on the path to a lifetime of good health."
