Good Morning,
Have you ever driven somewhere that you have been many times before? Did you even think about it or, like me, pretty much let the car drive itself, seeming to pay no attention to what was going on around you. We get to our destination and can't really say what we saw or what happened along the way. This is autopilot at its "finest".

A couple of weeks ago, I had an accident with my new Camaro as I was pulling out of a driveway, I barely clipped a large SUV. It is amazing how much plastic is in the front of these new cars, over $7,000 dollars worth to my vehicle. No one was hurt except, maybe, my pride but it made me think. I have pulled out of that driveway hundreds of time with no problems. In essence, I was on autopilot.

How often we, in a similar manner, live lives on autopilot. We do the same things over and over and never think about what we are doing, why we are doing it or, if we should still be doing it. We, all too often rationalize that we have always done it this way, it is our life work, it is too late in life to change, or even our calling from God. We may hate it, be bored with it and even dream of changes and, then, return to our comfort zone using our reasoning for maintaining the status quo.

Life is not designed to be routine and boring. If you do not believe it, think of the times you experienced something for the first time, even if it was years ago. Maybe you were nervous or afraid at first, but think of the exhilaration, the adrenalin rush as it happened and the feeling of accomplishment when complete.

As we move into 2019, let each of us all turn off the autopilot, use the brain and talent our creator gave us and be the person we were meant to be. Don't put it back on autopilot. We were all meant to make changes based on the opportunities provided t us throughout our lives.

Have a great week.

Jim
