Present Moment Awareness...
So, how do we get there? how do we achieve this state?
"There's nowhere to go and nothing to do. There's simply everything to be"
, says
M. Brown
, author of
"The Presence Process"
Present Moment Awareness is a practice and a process
of discovering what's already there...
Beyond the thought there is a space of NO MIND, the dimension that's free of any conditions, the dimension of Stillness and Being-ness, Consciousness... the space in which everything happens and coexists..
We cannot get to
experience
the Present moment by doing or thinking
about it. We simply allowing each moment to Be as it is, and
allowing what's there to be revealed. And as with any process, what can be revealed is not always comfortable, but certainly is liberating.
As
Eckhart Tolle
explains in "
The power of NOW
",
“there are millions of people in this world who are tortured by their own minds. The “voice in the head” creates doubts, fears, and suffering, but many of us aren’t aware of what’s happening or how to experience a lasting inner peace.
That is, until we discover the power of Presence.
With practice,
Presence
increasingly arises within you.
It
manifests in many different ways:
inner peace, empathy, an outflow of goodwill, creativity, a heightened sense of aliveness, freedom from dysfunctional
and compulsive thinking, and a deep appreciation
of the present moment.
"
Slowing down the pace of living
(making a conscious choice to stop "rushing" yourself),
becoming more aware of the surroundings
(stop and smell the roses, literally :),
breathing more deeply and consciously,
anchoring your awareness in your physical body
(e.g. check in with your posture/spine),
remembering how to feel authentically
(deeply, with all your heart),
these are some of the ways that we can practice to exit the dimension of thinking, and enter the realm of Being, NOW.
