Ground Breaking
Holy Family Early Learning Childhood Center

The property across from the east side of St. Mary School, on the corner of 6th and J streets, was generously donated to the school to open a much needed childhood center for the benefit of David City and surrounding communities. The new 4,600-square-foot structure will be constructed by the Aquinas Building Trades Program, taught by Mr. Mark Masur. The new center will have a capacity of 80 children. It will have four classrooms for infants, young toddlers, 3- to 4-year-olds, and pre-kindergarten students.

Super Scary
by Tim Kochenderfer

Fear! Horror! Terror! That's what the Storyteller wanted for his night of spooky tales. But everyone in the theater, including a vacuuming janitor and an audience member who really has to 'go', keeps interrupting to share their own, less-than-chilling versions of the stories. This Hallows Eve, we meet a town that can't tell the difference between a witch and a thun-derstorm, a jack-o-lantern who is constantly peer-pressuring the devil, and a Frankenstein monster at the center of a high school romantic rivalry. A Halloween comedy that will leave you screaming with laughter!

Sending Down the Sparrows
by Laura Lundgren Smith

As a reluctant member of the Hitler Youth, Viktor is surrounded by Nazi ideology, from the math problems he's given in class to the conversations he has with his friends. But Viktor is different, because he has a secret: his developmentally disabled sister, Alina, who he visits in a state institution. As he learns just how far the Third Reich will go in the name of "genetic purity," he must choose where he stands, no matter what it costs. An impactful drama and testament to the people with disabilities persecuted in the Holocaust.

St. Mary's Elementary
Adopt-a-Parish
Aquinas & St. Mary's classes spiritually adopted one of the 13 supportive parishes in the David City Deanery. The classes remind their adopted parishes of their gratitude and say special prayers for their parish. St. Mary's Fourth Grade's adopted parish is Appleton's Assumption. This month they sent a "Get to Know Us" letter introducing who's in the fourth grade and highlighting some of their favorites. For example: favorite saint (Mary), subject (Art), color (teal/turquoise), and season (Fall). They will be praying the "Hail Holy Queen" prayer for Appleton Assumption Parish.
