This past Friday evening, many parents, siblings, teachers, and students gathered in our school gym to celebrate the season in an exciting yet eerie way! One of our many 6th grade curriculum themes is Gothic fiction. Students begin reading classic Gothic fiction short stories such as "The Tell Tale Heart". They then write their own stories incorporating different elements including the patient building of suspense, advanced vocabulary, and figurative language. Simultaneously, they work on their acting skills through Gothic scene studies in drama class. The culminating event is Gothic Fiction Night! It is a celebration of all things macabre and unsettling -- and it is so much fun!

Expanded Spanish Instruction !

We welcome back Mrs. Ashley Diaz to our early childhood Spanish department. She has been away caring for her newborn baby girl and we are thrilled to have her back with our eager learners! Mrs. Leon has done a fantastic job working as a long-term substitute in her absence. We are thrilled to have Mrs. Leon resume Mrs. Echelberger's duties as K-4 Classroom Assistant where she and Mrs. Scarleto will teach Spanish to students throughout the week in their regular coursework!
We are excited to announce that Mrs. Rachel Eichelberger will be joining the team as yet another extraordinary addition to our stellar Physical Education department! Mrs. Eichelberger has been a special part of Park Maitland School for over 20 years, first as a parent of her 3 amazing children (Kalee, Kobe and Kendra) who all attended Park Maitland. When she found herself out of the carpool line she felt drawn back and just couldn't stay away. The last five years she has been a much loved part of the K-4 and K-5 teaching team.

In her spare time she has run 16 marathons, 3 half Ironmans and countless 5K and 10K races. She is excited for the opportunity to combine two things that she loves, physical fitness and working with children. she hopes to spark the desire in each child to continue healthy choices and maybe even inspire them to run a marathon one day! We are thrilled to have Mrs Eichelberger put her amazing athleticism and outstanding teaching expertise to work in this new position. We feel blessed to have a much-loved and respected member of the "family" join the PE department.
We are thrilled that Mrs. Scarlato, who was initially hired as a long-term substitute as a K-4 Classroom Assistant will remain in that position! Ms. Scarlato comes to Park Maitland through an exciting journey. She enjoys working with children and first fell in love with teaching when she designed her photography program, Visual Kids, for after school program. You can see her engaging, problem-solving, enthusiasm each day which brings a unique creative side along with her.

Angela has an A.S. degree in web design, and photography. She has had a great opportunity to work at Disney as a photographer and photograph newborns at our nearby hospitals. Life gives us challenges and beautiful experiences. She is a life learner and is continuously learning things that make her happy.

When Angela is not working you can find her exploring the world with her family. Angela was born in New York where her love for musical theater all began. Angela has an amazing son who goes to Park Maitland. She is enjoying the memories she is making with him.

Tickets are on sale now, and tables are limited. For more event information CLICK HERE .
