October 26, 2018

In Mt. Horeb's Elephant in the Room series, we've been talking about money and having the conversation most Christians avoid. We've looked at scripture to see how our generosity and obedience is a reflection of our spiritual submission to Jesus. We've asked ourselves how we can live with greater margin by living with less so we can more readily give and obey God's calling to love others in the name of Jesus. We learned how Jesus calls us to give generously with grateful hearts.

For our fourth and final week of Elephant in the Room, we're looking at scripture to see how others' financial generosity and submission to Jesus have had far-reaching effects and produced long-lasting spiritual fruit. The series might be coming to a close, but the challenge is far from over! Join us this Sunday as we grow together.

Pastor Trevor will be preaching in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services. Pastor Faye will be preaching in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services.

Operation Christmas Child

OCC seeks to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way by sending a shoe box full of love and gifts to needy children around the world. Each shoe box shares the Good News of Jesus Christ through a booklet that is enclosed within the shoe box. Each child is also given the opportunity to attend 12-lesson follow-up discipleship program entitled The Greatest Journey. Brochures, boxes, and a list of suggestions can be picked up outside the worship areas. Toothpaste, candy, and gum are not allowed any more. The Mt. Horeb Collection Day is November 11th. If you have any questions, please call Barbara Satkowski at 300-1467.

Fall Festival

This year, our Fall Festival is going to be bigger, better, and more fun than anything we've done before. Speaking of fun, there's going to be a crazy amount of giant inflatables to play on. For those music fans out there, Fall Festival will have some really good bands for your enjoyment with everything from bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock and even more. It doesn't stop there, though. We're going to have fireworks, food trucks, hay rides, rock walls and the list goes on. But you know what? This isn't just for you. Don't go holding out on your friends, neighbors and family. Bring them on November, 10th from 3 to 7. We aren't throwing this festival for ourselves. Sure, we want everyone at Mt. Horeb to have a great time, but we want this to be a treasured, fun time for everyone in our community. It's already going to be a night you won't forget, but let's make sure it's an evening Lexington always remembers.
