Energy Assistance Program offers funds to help residents avoid disconnection
Each spring, IMPACT partners with Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services and other community agencies to help residents avoid disconnection of utilities due to lack of payment. We Energies will begin to send disconnection notices beginning March 27th.
The Energy Assistance Program helps more than 58,000 Milwaukee County households each year access nearly $40 million in benefits including utility bill assistance, emergency furnace repair and replacement, and assistance with payment plans and disconnections.
As an incentive to set up a payment plan and apply for Energy Assistance early, eligible We Energies customers will receive a $300 crisis assistance benefit, which can replace the customer's down payment for payment plans arranged in March. To qualify for the benefit, customers must have made a minimum of two separate monthly payments since October 1, 2017 and must be an eligible resident that has completed an application during March. After this promotion ends, qualified residents can still apply for Energy Assistance any time before May 15th.
