Greetings!

These are troubling times for the family of God. Our Church, our priests, our faith, our families, are being attacked from all sides.

As Catholics, we should not be surprised because this has all been predicted. Our Lord warned us that we would be persecuted when He said, “If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first” (John 15:18). Even though we know that “ . . . it is better to suffer for doing good, if that be the will of God, than for doing evil" (1 Peter 3:17), it’s still difficult to endure these attacks especially when they are aimed at our families and loved ones.

But even this was predicted! As recently as 2006, Servant of God Lucia dos Santos told Cardinal Caffara of the Pontifical Institute for the Studies on Marriage and the Family that the “The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family.”

That is why we will focus our upcoming Novena on the intention of praying and interceding for marriage, family life and for the family of our Catholic Church.

Rev. Father Samuel Mwaka, a priest of the Archdiocese of GULU in Uganda, will celebrate a Novena of Masses beginning on February 14th, St. Valentine's Day and run through February 22nd, the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter the Apostle, the day after the Bishop's meeting in Rome begins, specifically for those who are married, for those struggling in marriage, and marriage in general, which is so under attack here in the United States and around the world.
Fr. Mwaka was born on 24th Dec, 1959 and was ordained a priest on 19th July 1987. He has served in various positions including Vocations Director, Youth Chaplain, Parish Priest and is currently Communications Coordinator and Director PACTA for the Archdiocese of Gulu.

I invite you to use the link below to send me the names of your friends and loved ones who are married, engaged to be married, and those who are struggling in their marriages. You are also invited to submit the names of priests, bishops, cardinals and religious who comprise our Church family and may be struggling, so that we may offer this Novena of Masses for their spiritual or temporal needs. My prayer is that these Masses will be a source of abundant grace, protection, and healing for marriages, families and the Church.

Let us together protect and pray for marriage, for as our Saint John Paul II, of happy memory, affirmed, "the future of the world and of the Church passes through the family."

May the abundant life of Jesus Christ be yours and may God bless you!

In His Service,

Gratefully yours,
