Our new office
Now that the artisans who collaborated on the building of our new barn have gone on to other projects, we've begun the satisfying process of moving into the new space. Things we haven't seen for a year and a half are coming out of boxes. Every time we open a new box, it feels a bit like Christmas morning.
Although our office, showrooms, and workshop are essentially finished, the work spaces on the second floor are still awaiting our handiwork, as we wait for the available hours to pull everything together. And - oh yes - winter is just around the corner, and weather-stripping, storm windows, and draft-free doorways have begun to be prime concerns.
As for business, we had a very active August, beginning with our Tax Holiday Weekend Sale, with everything discounted 20% for the entire month. As might be expected, the more expensive pieces - furniture, paintings, and jewelry - sold to local followers as well as website shoppers. Our thanks to all.
We've just received a large shipment of furniture, artwork, and smalls from England and are spending our days getting things ready for our
Fall Show on November 10 and 11. Buying has been good, and our English friends continue to offer us wonderful pieces. We'll be flying to London soon, and expect to have even more to offer at the November show. We'll keep you posted through our website and newsletters.
While the memories of the tornado are still in our heads, we continue to feel fortunate that we survived unharmed, that so many friends and neighbors came to our aid, that our insurers treated us fairly, and that we now work in a structure that was far beyond our dreams. Around us, neighbors have rebuilt their damaged homes, and Pumpkin Hollow is looking like a neighborhood once again. Sadly, the Congregational church will be coming down soon. After a year and a half of soul searching and discussions with their insurers, the decision to raze and replace has been made.
We've had a very active summer in the shop. Our new showrooms encouraged us to open our doors on Sundays throughout the summer, and the result was positive. During the winter we'll be open by appointment, with no regular hours. We invite you to give a call when you're in the area; we'd love to show you our new digs.
Thanks for reading. We value your interest in us and the things and activities that fill our lives.
