Winter Weather Is On Its Way!
T
he following is our communications plan in the event of a school closing, delay, or early dismissal due to inclement weather.
Decision Process
No single consideration will be the deciding factor to delay or close school. (e.g., if St. Louis Park schools are closed, we may still open our doors). We consider several factors in the decision, including:
- status of St. Louis Park schools
- hazardous travel conditions
- status of the Barry Family Campus
- status of other local independent schools
Notification
In the event of a school closing, delayed opening, or early dismissal, families will be informed via:
- email
- Heilicher Facebook post
- phone call(s) from our automated system
- posting on local news stations and websites
If there are a number of closings in the area, but we are remaining open, we will:
- send an email informing families we are open
- post on Facebook that we are open
Barring a state or federal government decision days in advance, we will inform families by 5 a.m. the day of the inclement weather. We want to have the best, most up-to-date information before making a decision. In the unlikely event of early dismissal due to inclement weather, we will call and email as soon as possible to make pickup arrangements, and will also call emergency contacts in the event a parent cannot be reached. The office will remain open until the last student is picked up.
