SchoolChoice Kicks Off Next Week -- Attend a School Expo
Of all our Shared Core Values here at DPS, perhaps Equity is the one that really speaks to our mission as educators. We are here to serve all families, to give every student that opportunity to succeed in the classroom, and in life.

That’s why we’re so proud of our enrollment process. Started in 2011, SchoolChoice gives every family equitable access to the schools they think are best for their student, regardless of their background or address.
2019-20 Great Schools Enrollment Guides for elementary and high school.
Through our one-deadline, one-application SchoolChoice window -- which is open Jan. 15-Feb. 15 for the 2019-20 school year -- virtually every DPS school, both district-run and charter, is a potential option for families.

We believe that students thrive when they have high-quality education choices, and the top goal in the Denver Plan is to have great schools in every neighborhood. We encourage families to first look at their neighborhood school, where they have a guaranteed seat.

We also know that different kids thrive in different environments -- and DPS boasts a rich menu of traditional, innovation and charter schools that offer a variety of programs, services and cultures. All of these are open to families through SchoolChoice.

Finding the right school for each student is a big decision, and an important part of SchoolChoice is giving our families the resources they need to make informed choices. In November, we saw the release of our annual DPS Great Schools Enrollment Guides . These colorful catalogues, available in Elementary and Middle/High School editions, feature profiles on every DPS school, including programs, contact information and more.
We’re also excited about our upcoming DPS School Expo Week , slated for Jan. 15-17. These five regional events give our families an opportunity to meet face-to-face with school representatives. DPS team members will be on hand to answer questions and help families fill out their SchoolChoice applications.

Last year we introduced an online, mobile-friendly school search tool called School Finder . This mobile-friendly website makes it easy for families to look up schools by address, interests or programs.
Last year, students and their families gathered at five regional Great Schools Expos to explore school options for the following school year.
Most importantly, we encourage our families to tour schools that interest them. There’s no substitute for walking the halls, meeting teachers and talking to school leaders. Contact schools directly for tour information.

When families are ready to list their top school preferences, they will be accessing the online application at schoolchoice.dpsk12.org using a cellphone, tablet or computer.

We're proud of our enrollment system, and look forward to another great SchoolChoice season when families take that first step in finding the school their children will love and where they will thrive.

¡Somos DPS!: Denver Language School
Language is not only a way for us to communicate; it’s who we are, and it shapes our stories.

At the Denver Language School Whiteman campus, students fully immerse themselves in either Mandarin Chinese or Spanish.
Whether in song and dance or reading and writing, the joy on students’ faces reveals the true gift of language: a deepened understanding of the world around you.

Watch our latest ¡Somos DPS! video (with a special Mandarin Chinese welcome), and email Ben McKee to have your school featured in the next episode!
