February in Truro...
     This month we pick up over an hour of additional daylight, but with temperatures just about the same as January. That's not enough sun to overcome the frigid bay and ocean waters and the cold of the frozen ground.
     Expect an average temperature of 31°F, with average lows of 22°F and highs of 36°F. We get an average total of 4 inches of rain and 10 inches of snow.

The State of Truro
Friends of the Truro Library will host Rae Ann Palmer, Town Manager on Wednesday, February 13 at 10am.  Refreshments at 9:30am.   Rae Ann will deliver a status report related to current and future town issues. Time will be allotted for an opportunity to ask questions or voice concerns.

Outermost Contra Dance
Friday, February 8, Wellfleet Preservation Hall, 335 Main Street, Wellfleet. We have changed the monthly date of our dances to the SECOND FRIDAY of each month. Shake out the winter blues with Outermost Contra! Swing your partner, dosido your friends and neighbors, and let the music guide your feet! Eastham caller Pat Nash will be calling a variety of dances - contras, mixers and maybe even some squares. Each dance will be taught with a thorough walk-through before the great live music starts, with the intent of making all beginners feel comfortable. Pat will be calling to the music of local band "Married to Corrigans." Community potluck at 6pm. Dance begins at 7pm.       More...

Outer Cape Solar Program
ACE Solar has agreed to continue offering preferred pricing for solar systems through Outer Cape Energize with the goal of reaching 1,000 kilowatts installed in total. If this is reached, ACE will donate the benefit of an additional (5th) PV system to an Outer Cape non-profit, in addition to the four that have already been agreed upon. Truro Recycling Committee
EXCITING NEWS! The Transfer Station is now accepting household FOOD WASTE, which will be collected and delivered to local, qualified farms. All food scraps, including bones, dairy, and any nutshells EXCEPT WALNUTS are accepted as well as: paper napkins, egg shells, coffee grounds, and coffee filters. NO GREASE, DISEASED PLANTS, KITTY LITTER, HUMAN NOR PET WASTE. It is important that NO PLASTIC BAGS be deposited in the bin. For a complete list of accepted items, click here.     
Work continues on the new Swap Shop. Take a look at the new foundation next time you're at the Transfer Station. We look forward to opening the new building this spring. Ptown to Hyannis Bus Service
Peter Pan Bus Lines was awarded a subsidy from MassDOT to provide two daily round trips between Provincetown and Hyannis. An additional trip will be added during the peak summer season to address increased demand for services. The new Provincetown to Hyannis route will build on earlier Peter Pan service expansions and will provide customers with safe and reliable transportation on the Cape. The route will link with existing Peter Pan services to Boston, Logan Airport, Providence, New York and beyond.     More...

Commission on Disabilities
As part of a coordinated effort to increase job opportunities for qualified individuals with disabilities, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has partnered with the Massachusetts Office on Disability, the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, and the Commonwealth's Human Resources Division to host the 2019 State Employment Career Fair. The career fair will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 10am-1pm at the State Transportation Building at 10 Park Plaza in Boston. If you are a disabled person seeking employment, this event will provide you with the opportunity to consider multiple industries, in one location, all on the same day.
