A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Lovejoy Community:

I hope you are enjoying your week, and your students are enjoying their learning. This past week has brought a nice amount of rain. The football game on Friday night against Sulpher Springs was cancelled due to inclement weather. The following morning, our Cross Country team competed in the Southlake Carroll XC Invite. This photo says it all.

LHS Marching Band

Have you ever wondered how the marching band learns to make the giant “pictures” you see at halftime? Following is a glimpse of the Lovejoy High School Band’s 2018 7-minute production in about 55 seconds. I had the opportunity to see the live show at the Tom Landry Classic. The band and color guard were excellent.

The Red Ledger

The Red Ledger is Lovejoy High School’s award-winning on-line newspaper. You may click here to follow them on Twitter or click here to access their website.

These talented students posted a great slideshow from the Tom Landry Classic. You may click here to view the photos. Grace Nguyen is the Lovejoy High School student who took the following photo:

Additionally, The Red Ledger posted a full listing of the colleges that participated in the College Fair at Lovejoy High School today. It’s an extensive list and was a great opportunity for our high school students to meet with college representatives regarding opportunities for higher education.

WSMS Newspaper Named
Pacemaker Finalist

The National Scholastic Press Association named Leopard Life as a Pacemaker Finalist.  Leopard Life is the student newspaper for Willow Springs Middle School. Congratulations to the staff of Leopard Life .

Circle of Partners

As you know, we continue to seek creative ways to enhance our revenue stream to offset the loss of state funds. Our reduction in state funding is projected to be ~$1.5 million based upon our per pupil level of funding from last year. A loss of state funds leaves us with two options: 1) cut programs or 2) seek a new revenue stream. Our Board of Trustees has directed the administration to do everything we can to protect the current experiences our Lovejoy students receive in K-12. While we are doing a variety of things to raise funds, we have implemented a new program: Circle of Partners. This program will embrace opportunities with area business who share revenue with our school district. To date, we have two areas under the Circle of Partners umbrella:

Real Estate : Provides an opportunity for our realtors to share a portion of their commission from the sale of homes within Lovejoy ISD. To date, we have one realtor who has signed on with this program:

Reinhard Real Estate pledges 10% of gross commission to several non-profits including Lovejoy ISD. Their website can be found at   Reinhard Real Estate . Jeff and Terri Reinhard own Reinhard Real Estate. They are proud Puster parents to fourth grader Ben, and 2nd grader Max.

Tutoring Services: Lovejoy ISD has also accepted Tutoring 101 into our Circle of Partners. Beginning in September, Tutoring 101@LHS will provide K-12 tutoring at Lovejoy High School, Monday through Thursday. This arrangement will also share gross revenue with our school district. Click here: Tutoring 101@Lovejoy High School for additional information.
