Weekly News For

From Your Interim Pastor

Last Sunday it was thrilling to see so many children back from summer vacations eager to begin the new Sunday School year. Over 30 children are registered to participate in this year's program under new leadership, with dedicated teachers, willing assistants and an exciting curriculum.

It was also a joy to welcome the musical contributions of our Chancel Choir. You can tell that they sing, not only with skill, but with conviction.

Another revelation this past week came from joining the Choral Bell Choir for their first rehearsal of the season. Ringing a little bell at the side of a Salvation Army kettle during the cold month of December for several years (many years ago!) did very little to prepare me for this experience. However, under the watchful assistance from players at my left and my right, I managed to ring at the right time without embarrassing myself too much. In fact, it was quite enjoyable. The sounds are fantastic. Our director, Morgan Sarbello is very patient. The music is accessible. And the sense of camaraderie makes the time fly by. Talk to Morgan if you'd like to participate.

I also met with some of the leaders of the New Beginnings program to be brought up to speed on what has transpired so far this year. With your participation a fascinating document was prepared that offers an accurate summary of the ministries offered by PPPC, the blessings that can be found here, and the challenges that these days present. You'll be hearing more on that next month.

I look forward to meeting with more committees this week, moderating my first Session meeting, and learning as much as possible from Pastor Linda as she prepares to enter a well-deserved retirement. I am grateful for everyone's support and understanding and for the experiences we get to share together during these days.

Peace!
Pastor Osy

Interfaith Hospitality Network will be here for the week starting on Sunday, September 23.  Th IHN signup sheet is now posted in the Narthex.

We are in need of one more dinner, hosts from 7 to 9:00 p.m. on two evenings, as well as
one more couple to stay overnight as chaperones.

Last year our church hosted forty-one guests, with twenty-one children and twenty adults throughout the year.   The need for services to help shelter homeless families continues. Even making a dinner for a night allows you to put your faith into action.

Financial Update
Financial News

Tithes and offerings recieved during the month of August amounted to $14,575.  Our expenses last month came to $23,007.  Let's not wait for someone else to do what needs to be done is the Sunday School theme for this Sunday.  Let us apply that to our financial support of our wonderful church.

Sunday School Startup

We are having a great time studying the Book of Nehemiah. Nehemiah was an individual who saw what needed to be done and did it with God's help. We, too, are concentrating on looking around our home, school, and community to see everyday things we can do to build God's Kingdom. Our memory verse this month is from Colossians 3:23 (NIRV), "Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord." You may wish to watch a

We meet in church for the beginning of worship. Then we head to Wilton Hall for our large group experience of discussion, Bible story video viewing, and worship music/dance. Our followup activities take place in our small groups downstairs: Grades 4-6, Grades 1-3, and Kindergarten/Preschool.

We invite you to register your child for Sunday School by downloading the Online Registration Form. Bring it to church this Sunday.

Below are some images of our first session.

First Week at Point Beach Prep

This week we began our new school year. We introduced our new afternoon program!

We were excited to see old friends and welcomed new friends to our Point Beach Prep Family. Pastor Linda and Pastor Osy came to our classes to say a prayer with our students and teachers.  Our young learners explored our classrooms and playground with curiosity and enthusiasm. We read The Kissing Hand, about a raccoon starting school for the first time that missed his Mommy but remembered her love stays with him throughout the school day. The children transitioned smoothly into the various activities in our schedule including circle time, art, story time, snack, music and recess.  We thank God for new friendships that are blossoming.   See you next week when we begin our alphabet adventures!

September Dine Around

Attention all Presbyterian Women!  On the fourth  Wednesday  of this month, September 26th, we will meet at Frankie's on Rt. 35 N, Pt. Pleasant, at 6:30 p.m.  for our "dine around."

We would love to have all of our women and their friends join us for good fellowship and good food, but we need a phone call to Maggie at 732-295-0908, or Lynn at 732-920-7133, in order to call ahead to reserve space for our group.  (Last time we had to change location at the last minute because we had no idea how many would be there. So if you don't remember those numbers you can call the church in a pinch!) See you all on the fourth Wednesday!!

Medical Equipment Available to Loan

Our church is happy to loan a variety of medical equipment such as walkers, crutches, canes, wheelchairs, shower and tub benches of different designs, shower chairs, and other specialized types of medical equipment to anyone in need.  We also recently received an electric automated chair lift cushion that makes it easy for anyone to get in and out of chairs.  If you would like to borrow any of the equipment it is in the basement or you can call the office.  The church is currently well stocked in medical equipment.  We are not taking anymore donations at this time.
