NEWPORT BEACH APPROVES FOURTH PHASE OF SCULPTURE PROGRAM
Phase III sculptures currently on exhibit in Newport Beach Civic Center Park.
The Newport Beach City Council unanimously voted to move forward with a fourth phase of its Sculpture in Civic Center Park program. Arts Orange County has served as the contractor for this program since its inception in 2013. A nationwide call for artists will be issued soon. More info here.

20TH ANNUAL OC ARTS AWARDS
2019 is the 20th year of Arts Orange County's OC Arts Awards! The event will take place on Wednesday, October 16, in the Samueli Theater, Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The Arts Awards honor artists, arts leaders, arts patrons, arts organizations, emerging artists and leaders, contributions to the built environment, and arts visionaries--for both lifetime and recent achievements.

2019 OTIS REPORT LAUNCHES 2/1
This year marks the eleventh annual
Otis Report on the Creative Economy, an invaluable advocacy tool commissioned by Otis College of Art and Design and authored in 2019 by Beacon Economics. "ArtsOC is proud to be a media partner again this year," commented President & CEO Richard Stein. "The Otis Report includes a section specific to the economic impact data of Orange County, and this information underscores the important role of our creative sector in driving the local economy." The 2019 report will be launched on February 1 at a free presentation in Los Angeles.

OC LAUREATE APPOINTED BY HERITAGE FUTURE
Heritage Future (the new nonprofit organization that operates the recently opened 1888 Center) has selected Salina Mendoza as its 2019 Orange County Laureate. The role of the Laureate is to help Heritage Future connect, educate, and partner with our community to provide diverse neighborhoods with creative and cultural opportunities. Salina Mendoza is an artist whose work is associated with minimalism, hard-edge painting, and repetitive use of lines.
