Souper Bowl of Caring on Sunday

souperbowl pot Join us in helping fight hunger through the Souper Bowl of Caring

More than 29 years ago the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group: "Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat."

Since that day, more than $143 million has been raised for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl of Caring. It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around the Big Game into the nation's largest celebration of giving and serving.

Be part of this movement that is sharing God's love with those in need. Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday

All canned goods and money collected will be donated to St. Gregory's Pantry which is the local food bank that serves our community. Please bring a non perishable item or cash donation to be placed in one of the baskets in the Narthex.  Place your donation in your favorite team's basket.
Communion Brunch

Following the service, join us in the C.E. Annex for our monthly Communion Brunch.  This month's brunch will be lovely.  Between Carol Bonebrake's delicious stratas and Linda Lee Smith's beautiful Valentine decor, and Rich Bavier in the kitchen, it will be worth coming across the street to Wilton Hall.   A free will offering defrays expenses.

2019 Church Directories

The 2019 Church Directory is now available in the Narthex and church office.  If you would like a digital version, please call or email the office and we will gladly email you one.

Please also inform the office of any changes to your information.
Blanket Sunday Update

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards Church World Service Blanket Sunday.  We are please to announce that we collected $726 for this year.  Through your donation you have provided comfort, warmth and compassion to those facing tragedies in the lives.
Choir Rehearsal Break

The Chancel Choir will be on break the next two Thursdays.  Rehearsals will start back up on Thursday February 21.  The Choir will be singing this Sunday and  on Sunday, February 24th.
New Door System in the Annex

This upcoming week, a new door system will be installed in the C.E. Annex.  After Thursday your existing fob will no longer work. The Church is in the process of establishing new access policies.  To those with existing fobs, please be on the look out for an email next week detailing the new policy and how to  secure access to the building. More information will follow.
This Week at Point Beach Prep

We had a successful Open House that included a parent camped out in a tent at midnight to be the first to secure a morning space in our program!  All of our morning spaces filled but we do still have availability in our afternoon classes.  Please help spread the word!  Our afternoon class is 12:45-3:15, with the option of coming earlier for lunch at 12pm. Please call 732-701-9900 to register.

This week we learned letter O.
Our Nursery class learned sign language for octopus. They read One Duck Stuck, Owl Babies, and Hello Ocean. They made orange prints, letter O stamping, and made an octopus.

Our Pre-K class learned the sight word "on". Their sign language word was "octopus". They made an octopus, Olaf, Oscar, an owl, and an ocean craft. They read Oliver Otter's Own Office, Commotion in the Ocean, Good Night Owl, Olivia, and One Night. They sang Old MacDonald Had a Farm, On Top of Spaghetti, One Two Buckle My Shoe, and I Knew an Old Lady Who Swallowed a One.  They also talked about opposites.  See you next week with letter P!

Prayer Chain
Prayer Changes Things
Prayer is a way for us to reach beyond ourselves, to put aside our loneliness or pain for the sake of another. A prayer chain is a way for people to gain assistance in prayer for any serious and pressing problem. It is also a way for any person to act on God's command to love one another.

We, who are pray-ers for our church's Prayer Chain, invite you to join our Telephone Prayer Chain or our E-mail Prayer Chain and become a vital part of our church's prayer ministry. Do pray your prayers in your own way and in your own time.  Always respect their confidentiality.

When you receive a request, you pray and then pass the prayer concern onto the next person on the Telephone Chain. If you are using E-mail, you pray for that request. Call Frankie Kunz, 732-892-4223, learn more about being a member and decide if you'd like to join us. We'd love to have you

Confirmation Meeting February 10

Confirmation  Classes for youth 7th grade and older will begin in February.

This year's course of study will consist of 12 class meetings between February and mid-June ( Confirmation  Sunday), a weekend retreat at Johnsonburg Camp, and a final meeting with Session members. The full schedule will be determined when leaders, parents and interested youth get together on February 10 after worship.

Our classes are a time to learn different aspects of our Christian faith while giving you a chance to ask questions (no question is off-limits), and have a good time in the process.

Please call the church office 732-899-0587 if you plan on attending the Feb 10th meeting.
Sunday School

Serving others is one way Jesus shows us the character of God; it's at the heart of what it means to follow Jesus. In  February we will discover examples of service recorded in scripture from the New Testament with emphasis on key verses. We'll start off with John 13:1-7 where Jesus washes the feet of his astonished disciples.

What's most important for our children (and us!) to remember?
  • Serve others because of what Jesus did for us.
  • Look for ways to serve others.
  • Use what you have to serve others.
  • Serve others without looking for applause.
Our "Life App" this month is, of course, SERVICE --  Lending a hand to help someone else.  In just four minutes, you can see what's happening by watching our  Preview Video.
