At our Annual Holiday Party!
Welcome Back and Happy New Year Bears!

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with family and friends and that your new year is off to a terrific start. If you missed our last issue of 2018, we had shared that the Florida Department of Education released the Class of 2018 high school graduation rates for high schools throughout Florida on December 19th. As reported, Cypress Creek's Class of 2018 posted a 98.8% graduation rate! This was also a +2.4% gain from the prior year. What incredible news to close out 2018 with! I am so very proud of our students, their teachers, and the support we have received from home.

A 98.8% graduation rate here at the "Creek" shows the potential of our Bears and the caliber of instruction they are receiving. With the first week of the new year nearly completed, this should provide some real incentive for our students as we move into the second semester. Please remember that we will be releasing report cards for the second nine-weeks on January 18th. If you or your student is not quite where they should be, please take advantage of our free tutoring opportunities sooner vs. later.

Thank you in advance for your support this semester and again, Happy New Year!

Best Buddies Club

On Friday, December 21st, our officer Kaitlynn Francisco hosted a Best Buddies Campfire/Pajama Holiday Party at her home. We had an awesome turnout and enjoyed lots of good food, s'mores by the campfire, music, and Secret Santa gift giving. Everyone had an amazing and memorable time!

Special thanks to our officers: Stefania Salerno, Anna Phan, Patricia Camilo, Amber Mccullah, Sarah Velez, Kaitlynn Francisco, and Natalie Rincon and a huge thanks to all of the members who came out to enjoy the evening with their buddies!!

The Best Buddies Club promotes one-on-one friendships between students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those without a disability, within Cypress Creek High School. This program tries to break social barriers at a difficult time in a teenager's life, with or without a disability - read more.

IBD'S 10 SECRETS TO SUCCESS

Investor's Business Daily is the number #2 business newspaper behind The Wall Street Journal. IBD has spent years analyzing leaders and successful people in all walks of life. Most have 10 traits that, when combined, can turn dreams into reality. Here is what they found . . .

1 HOW YOU THINK IS EVERYTHING: Always be positive. Think success, not failure. Beware of a negative environment.

2 DECIDE UPON YOUR TRUE DREAMS AND GOALS: Write down your specific goals and develop a plan to reach them.

3 TAKE ACTION: Goals are nothing without action. Don't be afraid to get started. Just do it.

4 NEVER STOP LEARNING: Go back to school or read books. Get training and acquire skills.

5 BE PERSISTENT AND WORK HARD: Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Never give up.

6 LEARN TO ANALYZE DETAILS: Get all the facts, all the input. Learn from your mistakes.

7 FOCUS YOUR TIME AND MONEY: Don't let other people or things distract you.

8 DON'T BE AFRAID TO INNOVATE; BE DIFFERENT: Following the herd is a sure way to mediocrity.

9 DEAL AND COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE EFFECTIVELY: No person is an island. Learn to understand and motivate others.

10 BE HONEST AND DEPENDABLE; TAKE RESPONSIBILITY: Otherwise, Nos. 1-9 won't matter.

Have a great weekend!
