Elementary and junior high students arriving at Cove before 8:30 AM are invited to participate
in Early Morning Drop-In Meditation. This optional alternative to before-school outdoor recess is an opportunity for younger students to start their school day with a short period of calm, focus and quiet self-reflection.

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Sunday, January 13
Cove's Junior High and High School basketball teams will playing in the state qualification tournament. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the game, and should arrive 30 minutes before game time.
- High School Yellow will play at 8:30 AM and 9:50 AM on Court 1
- High School White will play at 11:10 AM and 1:50 AM on Court 2
- High School Blue will play at 8:30 AM and 9:50 AM on Court 5
- Junior High Blue will play at 8:30 AM and 9:50 AM on Court 3
- Junior High Yellow will play at 11:10 AM and 12:30 AM on Court 3.

IN-SCHOOL FIELD TRIP DAY
Friday, January 22
Cove will host an in-school field trip day, with students participating in a rotation of in-house activities.
Students will make vases for the elderly with Kindness Connection and the gym will be turned into a STEAM museum. The Elementary Unit will have lunch at Cove and then head over to Northbrook Court to see Mary Poppins Returns. The Junior High will head over to the mall for lunch and then the movie. The High School will head over to Pinstripes for bocce, bowling and lunch

UIC BASKETBALL GAME
Saturday, January 26
Cove students, families and friends and invited to a free UIC Flames basketball game courtesy of the Alvin H. Baum Family Fund. Groups may take a bus leaving Cove at Noon or meet at Credit Union 1 Arena (UIC Pavilion) at 1:00 PM. There will be a pregame reception with lunch and UIC student athletes, followed by the game at 3:12 PM. Pick up at Cove will be at 5:45 PM. Please return the form above by Friday, January 18, 2018.

SCIENCE FAIR AND VARIETY SHOW
Wednesday, February 13
Save the Date! The Cove Science Fair and Variety Show will take place on Wednesday, February 13. The Science Fair will be from 6:00-7:00 PM and the Variety Show will begin at 7:00 PM. Science Fair projects will be exhibited during the school day and a staff and student dress rehearsal for the Variety Show will take place at 1:30 PM.
Auditions for the Variety Show will be held on January 15. Parents and students need to fill out the attached form and return it to Dr. Johnstone by the fifteenth. There will also be a sign-up sheet on Dr. Johnstone's office door. We look forward to another great show!
