Contribute Your Wisdom to the Advent Devotional

You're invited to write an original reflection, poem, or prayer for this year's Advent devotional. This booklet filled with your writings will fuel conversations in our LYFE Groups and give daily hope to readers everywhere. Submissions should be 250 words or less, due by 12:00pm on Monday, November 12 to communications@haumc.org .

The Advent 2018 theme is "Do You Hear What I Hear?" In Advent, our church will reflect on how and where God’s message comes through in our world and where God’s voice goes unheard or is shrouded in mystery. As you write, ponder these questions: How does the experience of Advent change our ability to hear God? Where do you hear the presence of God echoed back to you? How has your ability to hear God’s call changed over time? Are there places where God seems absent or silent to you?

InterGen Men's Retreat
November 10-11, at Koinonia Retreat Center

In her poem, The Summer’s Day , Mary Oliver says: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church invites the men of our community to a retreat to answer this provocative question. How do we, as men, create lives that are fulfilling and engage our spirits? We will share the wisdom of the elders and be ignited by the passion of those in the earlier stages of their lives and careers. The need for purpose, the need for vision, and the need for loving relationships applies no matter our age. So get ready to be enriched and inspired by meaningful conversations that explore these questions:

  • How can I learn to treasure each and every day?
  • Where will I focus my energy?
  • What do I want to contribute?
  • What do I want to create?
  • To what and whom will I look for inspiration?

Register at haumc.org/register. Cost is $89.
