I want to personally wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I am very grateful to be a part of this amazing community. I hope that your week is filled with many great memories and safe travels. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

NEXT WEEK! Thanksgiving Break
Lovejoy Elementary will be closed Monday, November 25th - Friday, November 29th.  We hope everyone enjoys the holiday time with family and friends. We look forward to seeing all of our students when we return on Monday, November 26th.

DUE TOMORROW! 4th Yearbook Ad
Congratulate your child on a job well done at Lovejoy Elementary!  Place an ad in the LES 2019-2020 Yearbook showcasing your 4th Grader. The cost for ¼ page ad is $25 and $50 for ½ page ad. All forms, checks/cash, photos, and an ad message are due TOMORROW, Friday, November 22nd. For questions, please contact Janean Mancini at  [email protected].

NEW! Christmas Break & Office Hours
Lovejoy Elementary will be closed for the holidays Friday, December 20th - Friday, January 3rd.  The LES office will be closing at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 19th and will not reopen until the students return on Monday, January 6th.  We hope everyone has a fun and safe Holiday!

NEW! Lost and Found
We have lots of items, especially sweaters and jackets in the lost and found.  Please encourage your child to look and see if any item(s) belong to him/her. We will be donating all lost and found on Thursday, December 19th at 1:00pm.

NEW! Fairview Tree Lighting: LES Choir
Please join us on Thursday, December 5th from 6:30 - 8:30pm for the Fairview Tree Lighting. The LES Choir will be singing at 6:55pm. If you are a choir parent, please look for more detailed information to come from Mrs. Hebert.

Fine Arts Festival
Each elementary campus choir will perform Saturday from 10AM - 11:30AM and all elementary students will have visual art on display in the LHS auxiliary gym throughout the event.  We hope you will plan to see your child's art, attend the elementary choir performances and then stay to visit the SCIS, WSMS, and LHS performances and exhibits. The festival is a wonderful opportunity to see where your child can participate as they move up to SCIS and beyond. Please click here for detailed information.

4th Grade Recorders
4th grade music students at Lovejoy will learn to play the recorder. In order to ensure that each student gets a quality instrument and to provide a level of convenience to our busy families, we will be collecting $3.00 per student and ordering the instruments from our music supplier. You can pay cash or check to Lovejoy Elementary.  If you already own a recorder, it is not necessary to purchase one through the school. However, I would like to caution you against purchasing an instrument from a discount retailer. These instruments are generally of inferior quality and play out of tune. If cost is a concern, please contact Mrs. Hebert.

NEW! Thank you for Recycling!
Thank you to everyone who recycled items for others last week. We had a successful collection of items that will be recycled to help our community and not fill the landfills. We filled a trunk of all sorts of recyclables. Thanks again PTA for making this program happen!

November is American Diabetes Month
Yesterday was World Diabetes Day!  We use November 14th as World Diabetes Day because that is the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, the man who discovered insulin and saved hundreds of thousands lives for which he was awarded the Noble Prize in Medicine.  The discovery was not a cure, but it was a treatment for a previously untreatable disease.  Banting did not seek a patent for his discovery, instead he sold the rights to the University of Toronto for $1.00, as a means of ensuring insulin would be available to all who need it.
