Winter Classes Now Available

Winter is Coming!
The City wants to remind residents about the following snow related items.

Fort St, Dix Hwy, Southfield Rd, and Outer Dr are under the jurisdiction of Wayne County or MDOT. We are not responsible for salting or removal of snow on those roads.

The Department of Public Service is responsible for plowing 230 lane miles of road during snow events. DPS prioritizes main routes so emergency vehicles can get to schools, hospitals, and homes quickly.

When necessary, the City may declare a snow emergency to better allow DPS to plow our roads in a significant snow event. Please remember to move your vehicle out of the street when the City declares a snow emergency as to not receive a parking infraction.

Reminder! Lincoln Park municipal code requires the responsible party of each property to remove snow within their sidewalk within 24hrs and within 12hrs for ice accumulation

Be Ready for Tax Scams in 2019
As the state of Michigan begins a new year and the state income tax filing season approaches, the Michigan Department of Treasury is asking taxpayers to resolve to be ready for tax scams in 2019.

Cybercriminals typically increase their activity in the first part of the year through phone scams and email phishing schemes. These scammers try to obtain personal information using different tricks and tactics so they can file income tax returns and claim refunds on behalf of unsuspecting taxpayers.

Some scammers may also allege a taxpayer owes taxes and aggressively demand payment for a quick payout.

Treasury will never:
  • Initiate a phone call or email to ask for personal information.
  • Call or email to demand immediate payment using a specific payment method, such as a prepaid debit card, gift card or wire transfer. Generally, Treasury will first send a bill through the U.S. mail to any taxpayer who owes taxes.
  • Threaten to immediately bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have the taxpayer arrested for not paying.
  • Demand that taxes be paid without giving the taxpayer the opportunity to question or appeal the amount owed.
  • Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.

Cybercriminals often alter caller ID numbers and emails to make it look like the state Treasury Department, the Internal Revenue Service or another official agency is contacting a taxpayer. Scammers may use employee titles, a person's name, address and other personal information to sound official.

Taxpayers who are contacted by a scammer should immediately cease the call or delete the email.

Since 2016, the state Treasury Department's increased security measures protected more than 4,500 taxpayers who confirmed their identity was stolen and used to request state of Michigan income tax refunds. This prevented more than $19 million from being distributed to scammers.

Taxpayers who have received a call or email from a scammer should report the case to the IRS through the web or by calling 800-366-4484. To learn more about tax-related identity theft, go to www.michigan.gov/identitytheft

Message from our Fire Dept.
Taking care of your clothes dryer is an important part of your homes safety plan. Laundry is a part of your everyday routine, with a few safety tips, you can prevent a dryer fire.

  • Make sure you clean the lint filter before or after each load of laundry.
  • Remove lint that has collected around the drum.
  • Rigid or flexible metal venting material should be used to sustain proper air flow and drying time.
  • Make sure the air exhaust vent pipe is not restricted and the outdoor vent flap will open when the dryer is operating. Once a year, or more often if you notice that it is taking longer than normal for your clothes to dry, clean lint out of the vent pipe or have a dryer lint removal service do it for you.
  • Keep dryers in good working order. Gas dryers should be inspected by a qualified professional to make sure that the gas line and connection are intact and free of leaks.
