CEO message
to the community
Friend!

Good morning. I am pleased to announce that our community will be involved in a new pilot project in conjunction with Jewish Federations of North America and Birthright Israel to bring adults between the ages of 27-32 to Israel via Birthright Israel and Israel Outdoors. Click here to learn more about this free Young Leadership Adventure!

I met with the Hagley Museum on Tuesday to discuss collaborating on a March program lecture with Hasia Diner, two-time winner of the National Jewish Book Award. She will be discussing her book, Julius Rosenwald: Leaving A Legacy, and how he rose from modest means as the son of a peddler to the helm of Sears Roebuck and Company, to Passionate Philanthropist. We are fortunate to partner with Hagley on their Author Talk program.

We were notified on Wednesday that Federation was named Honorable Mention recipient in PR Daily’s 2018 Nonprofit PR Awards in the branding category. This national awards competition recognizes nonprofits who effectively articulate their message in a thoughtful and compelling manner.

I spoke with a colleague at American Associates Ben-Gurion University (AABGU) on Thursday about coordinating a joint Delaware program on April 14th. We will be screening the film, Ben-Gurion, Epilogue, facilitated by community leader, Toni Young.

Federation Shabbat at Temple Beth El is only two weeks away. This annual program is one of the many unique attributes of our vibrant Jewish community as our state-wide synagogues come together for an evening of inspiration and unity. Please make your dinner reservations by January 18th. Click here to reserve online.

Please also be reminded of Super Sunday on January 27th - you can make the call and answer the call on our largest fundraising and community-building day of the year. Volunteer to make calls or write thank you notes to our generous supporters.

We wish the eleven community leaders who are heading to Miami this weekend to attend the International Lion of Judah Conference safe travels. Yasher Koach to Lisa Dadone-Weiner who is receiving the Kipnis-Wilson Friedland Award for her inspired leadership.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our next FED Talk program on Wednesday, January 16th at 7pm (see flyer below).

We Grow Stronger TOGETHER.

Shabbat Shalom ,
Seth J. Katzen
Chief Executive Officer
Jewish Federation of Delaware’s Young Leadership Division (YLD) has undertaken a re-branding effort in order to remain relevant and appealing to those community members in their 20s, 30s and early 40s. We solicited opinions and asked our young adults to vote on their favorite name and logo. Based on the responses received, we selected CONNECT: Young Adult Network as our new name.

Federation will sponsor after-work networking programs as a welcome end to the daily grind as well as a great way to meet new like-minded people. Through a variety of community service initiatives and projects, CONNECT members will make a profound difference in the local and global community.
We are in the process of creating a CONNECT steering committee and recruiting a group of interested people who will assist us in taking an active role.

If you are between the ages of 20-40 and looking to become more involved in shaping the future generation of Jewish life in Delaware, please contact Daniella Buchshtaber at 302/427-2100 or Daniella@ShalomDel.org

Jewish Historical Society of Delaware
The history of Delaware's Jewish community is a microcosm of the history of our People in America. It is the Jewish Historical Society of Delaware which has captured this century-plus palette. You will find storekeepers and State leaders, judges and, well, you name it and you'll find Delaware's Jews.
Keep your eye out for our April annual meeting at which we'll highlight the Jewish Judges and Justices of Delaware.

Be a part of our past as we move into the future!
