Living the Adventure Sunday School Class

"Living the Adventure" Sunday School class will begin a 6-week study of The Little Book of Biblical Justice on Sunday, January 20. The class begins at 10:00 a.m. and meets in the Conference Room in the Education Building. All are welcomed to attend. Books are available for check-out in the Church Library. You may also obtain a copy from Keith Letchworth ( keith.letchworth@gmail.com). This study is sponsored by the newly formed Justice Ministries Committee.

What has been said about the book: "Dr. Chris Marshall's treatment of [justice in the Bible] is direct, yet almost lyrical in tone. He manages a thorny, multi-faceted subject clearly and ultimately singles out the broad areas of theological agreement among the Bible's writers."

Excerpts from the book:
  • "The Bible has had a profound impact on the development of Western culture. So exploring biblical perspectives on justice can help us appreciate some of the convictions and values that have helped shaped Western political and judicial thought."
  • "Justice is the heart of God's kingdom, the way in which God exercises loving rule in the world. It is the primary obligation placed on God's people, who are called to be living witnesses to the transforming character of God's justice. It is the way we serve Christ in the world."
  • "...biblical justice is, finally, a joyful justice, not a grim justice. It is joyful because it restores, heals and makes things right."
