Welcome to the October edition of Your City @ Work, a monthly online newsletter. Our goal is to keep you up to date on pending issues and actions before the City Commission so that you can participate in the decision making process. We hope you will find this form of communication educational and informative.

CITY NEWS
RED TIDE UPDATE
The City of Dunedin is committed to providing the most accurate Red Tide updates as we receive information. The Red Tide Bloom remains miles offshore from Dunedin. City, County and State crews are working alongside volunteers to clean up our Pinellas County beaches and waterways.

WORLD CHAMPION PIPE BAND
The City of Dunedin Pipe Band traveled to Glasgow the week of August 18 and won the World Pipe Band Championships put on by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.

FENWAY HOTEL
The historic Fenway Hotel is nearing completion and preparing for a full opening as a boutique hotel in early November. A rooftop bar, 83 guest rooms and multiple suites will be available.

DUNEDIN CITIZENS' ACADEMY UPDATE
Dunedin Citizens' Academy participants have completed the first four weeks of class with a behind the scenes look into how government works and the functions of City departments, including Public Services, Water Services, Engineering, Planning & Development and more.

FIVE EPIC! GOALS FOR 2019
The City of Dunedin's five EPIC! Goals, established by the City Commission at their 2018 Strategic Planning Session, provide the framework that is used to organize and align the City's 2019 programs and projects contained within the Business Plan.

FILMS IN THE PARK
Dunedin Parks & Recreation invites you to grab your blanket and picnic basket and head downtown to Pioneer Park for a relaxing evening watching a movie under the night sky every Friday in October.

SAVE THE DATE
HISTORY MUSEUM GRAND OPENING

The Dunedin History Museum celebrates its Grand Reopening on October 6 with a ribbon cutting at 11am.

FIRST TIME
HOMEBUYERS

There will be a first time homebuyers workshop on Saturday, November 3 from 10am-12pm at the Hale Center .

HISTORIC
PRESERVATION

The Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC) will have their second reading before City Commission on October 4.

FUNEDIN FACT
In October 1967, a group of women formed the sailing group, The Windlasses. They were organized to learn the principles of sailing, and they encouraged women sailors to improve their sailing skills. They primarily sailed in prams, the flat-bottomed boat that was designed and created in Dunedin.
