This Sunday we will have an Interfaith Worship Service at 10 am (NOTE different time than our usual 11:30 am time) with members of the First United Methodist Church and the Islamic Center of Los Angeles. The service will be held in the Sanctuary and we will hear readings from the Bible and the Quran. A member of the Islamic Community will offer a reflection as well as Pastor Marlene. Our choir will be singing in the combined choirs.
The Bible text that Pastor Marlene will be reflecting on is Genesis 18:1-15. In it, Abraham and Sarah receive a visit from God and some angelic visitors and are promised an offspring even though they were advanced in age. Sarah’s response was to laugh at the idea. The story speaks to the ways in which God turns the impossible into the possible.
We hope you will enjoy this Thanksgiving Service and have signed up to stay for the grand Thanksgiving Feast afterwards. The feast will be held in both the Fellowship Hall and the Great Hall (large rooms on either side of the outdoor Cloister area). Everyone must check in before they are seated and the cost is $5 per person or $20 may per family. Please bring a dessert to share if you are able and thanks to those who have signed up in advance. We hope to see you this Sunday!! Please see information about parking, nursery, etc. below.

th
Information
Parking
- since we expect a crowd of about 300 or more, plan to arrive early to park. There is overflow parking on the street and at the Kaiser Lot located on El Dorado between Los Robles and Oakland, just south of the church.
Offering/Pledge Card
– If you plan to bring an offering or your pledge card this Sunday, please put your donation in an envelope clearly marked with your name and the First Congregational Church of Pasadena on it. People will be asked to come forward with their offering and place it in either basket labeled FCC or FUMC. You may also hand it to one of our ushers or pastors.
Church School/Nursery
– after the Time for Children, our younger kids and providers will head to the nursery and our elementary age children and youth will go with our teachers upstairs to our office on the 2
nd
floor. Nursery parents should pick up their kids directly after worship in the nursery since there will be a lot of people and it will comforting for little ones to be with their parents. The church school teachers will bring the older children down to find their parents. You may sit wherever you wish but there will be some children’s activities and crafts in the Great Hall if your child would like them to have access to that.
