Immanuel Lutheran School's Student Council is collecting new and gently used coats to share with homeless individuals. Coats may be placed in the receptacles available in the church and school lobbies.

The instructor from Mini Monets specializes in multi-media art designs (paint, feather, sticks, paper layers, etc) for children. The Adult Room is for teens and adults and this instructor is from Lumber and Salt There are multiple design and color options available to customize your art.

GriefShare Sessions Begin Jan. 14

No matter the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. GriefShare is a special seminar and support group for people dealing with the loss of a family member. We understand how deeply grief and loss hurt people and families. This is a place where many people have found they can begin putting their lives back together again. Batavia Public School District 101 will hold a special screening of the IndieFlix documentary, Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety , at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre (located within Batavia High School) to open a dialogue on the important topic among families, community leaders, and experts. Suggested for ages 10 and up, this free community event will feature a viewing of the 56-minute film, followed by an informative panel discussion with special guests from the mental health care field. >>> Read more

Wake Up Call

Details: 7-8:30 PM Wake Up Call presentation, 8:30 PM Resource Fair
Wake-Up Call is a life-size exhibit of a teen’s bedroom with more than 20 “red flags” that can signal drug or alcohol use. The bedroom identifies spots where teens may hide drugs, household items that can be used as drug paraphernalia and ways teens try to cover up drug and alcohol use. Participants will learn the signs and symptoms associated with substance use as well as current drug trends and receive a guided tour of the bedroom along with a description of items used to conceal substance use. They will learn parenting strategies to help prevent substance use, receive a comprehensive resource handbook, and have an opportunity to go through the bedroom and ask questions.

This presentation is for adults only (21 years of age & over).

Seeking Substitute Teachers
  • Description: Teach students in preschool, grade school, or middle school at Immanuel when regular classroom teacher is absent. Days as mutually agreed upon by substitute and school administration. Times to be determined based on classroom needs.
  • Qualifications: Minimum bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning and current Substitute Teaching Certificate through the Kane County Office of Education. Successfully complete the background check process.
  • Hours: Vary based on need and worker availability

Annual Teddy Bear Toss
Fans are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped teddy bear to the game. When the Steel score their first goal fans throw the teddy bears on the ice. We then stop the game to collect the teddy bears and donate them to local children in need (last year we collected over 450 teddy bears)

Faith and Family Presentation
Following the game enjoy a special Faith and Family Night from the hockey world and beyond in a discussion of the tole faith plays in their lives on and off the ice, a message that will resonate with children and adults.

Tickets for Teddy Bear Toss and Faith and Family night start at just $9 for groups of 15 or more. Please see the attached flyer for more details on this night and our attached group pricing .
