We open the new month of February with a full schedule starting with our School Advisory Council meeting at 5:30 PM on Tuesday. These meetings are always open to any member of our school community as we frequently discuss progress with our school improvement plan. On this point, just below we have relisted the link for this year's Parent Survey. We are still well short of where we need to be in terms of parent responses. This feedback is essential to our school improvement plan so thank you for your help if this applies to your household.
Enjoy your week and thank you for looking over this latest issue.
With Knight Pride,
Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.
Principal, Lake Nona Middle School
|
We need 300 parents to participate in the survey in order for us to have a response rate to analyze for use in our School Improvement Plan. Your cooperation and support in completing the survey is greatly appreciated.

Mrs. Connelly
Mrs. Connelly is one of our wonderful performing arts teachers at Lake Nona Middle. Her students perform at such a high standard that other counties and states have taken notice! This year Mrs. Connelly has been asked to be the conductor for the
2019 Hillsborough All County Honor Choir and also the conductor for the
2019 Georgia Statewide Honor Choir. We are so proud of her and lucky to have her on the faculty at Lake Nona Middle School.

Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division (Division B is middle school; Division C is high school). Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation.

Latinos in Action (LIA) engages Latino male and female students to improve themselves through education, leadership, and service. Students in LIA celebrate and honor the diverse cultures that contribute to their Latino heritage. Students have several opportunities for key leadership experiences and are engaged in learning by working with elementary school students on a weekly basis with reading skills and comprehension and planning several community service projects throughout the school year. The Latinos in Action are getting ready for their UCF Conference on March 8, 2019.

Our 6th grade girls chorus got to see the musical,
Ella Enchanted at the Orlando Repertory Theatre Friday. The girls saw a live show and learned more about expression through performance. After the show they enjoyed a picnic lunch together outside. Great times!
