During this Lenten season the Presiding Bishop has asked that we as a community study together. I want to encourage all of us to participate together in the Good Book Club and read the Gospel according to Luke and the Book of Acts. As I wrote last year during Lent I will again offer a brief reflection, a word or phrase that struck me as memorable. I hope you will read with me and respond with your comments. I hope that we can all be engaged in this journey together as we learn more about Jesus who walked among us to heal and save.

About the Good Book Club

 

The Good Book Club is an invitation to all Episcopalians to join in reading the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts during Lent-Easter 2018. Episcopalians will start reading Luke on Sunday, February 11 and read a section of Luke's Gospel every day through the season of Lent. The entire season of Easter will be devoted to daily readings from the Book of Acts. Already, individuals, congregations, and organizations are committed to being a part of the Good Book Club, and we hope you'll join the journey too!

June 7-19, 2018 - A Journey to the Holy Land

You are invited to join other pilgrims from The Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana as we walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Together, we will visit the places of his birth, life, ministry, death and resurrection. Our experienced personal guide Iyad Qumri, will lead us in exploring ancient places, vibrant markets, and modern museums in a land that is suspended between East and West, past and present.

Pavlovitz is a pastor, writer, and activist from Wake Forest, North Carolina. In the past four years his blog Stuff That Needs To Be Said has reached a diverse worldwide audience. A 20-year veteran in the trenches of local church ministry, he is committed to equality, diversity, and justice-both inside and outside faith communities. He recently released his first book  A Bigger Table: Building Messy, Authentic, and Hopeful Spiritual Community.

Once a year, the priests of the diocese gather at the Solomon Center for formation, education, and community.

St. Alban's Chapel on the campus of LSU has moved into Phase II of a Legacy Campaign to refurbish their organ and to address major maintenance needs. The second phase of this campaign is a Feasibility Study that will eventually help determine the scope of this effort. One part of this phase is to build a "Friends and Alumni of St. Alban's Chapel" contact list. Once students leave the university, it is difficult to stay in touch with them. If you know people who have a special place in their hearts for the ministry of St. Alban's Chapel, and who may not currently be in touch with the chapel, please send an email with their names (and contact information, if you have it) to Laurie Morris ( [email protected] ). We want to include them in our Feasibility Study. St. Alban's Chapel is particularly interested to make contact with former students who may have left LSU decades ago, but who still have a deep affection for St. Alban's Chapel. If you have questions, you may contact Fr.
