CAMP FRIEDLANDER CENTENNIAL
Camp Friedlander Staff Reunion - January 19, 2019

More than 125 Camp Staffers from across Camp Friedlander, Myron Kahn, and Camp Hook converged at the Camp Friedlander Dining Hall to Kick off the Camp Friedlander Centennial Year. Past Camp staff traveled from as far away as Naples, Italy and Seattle Washington to attend. Representatives from each decade reaching back to the 1950’s were present to share in fellowship and share stories, skits and songs from their respective era. Honored guests included Marc Logemann, past Camp Friedlander Camp Director and Assistant Chief Scout Executive, and Gene Mugrage, who served as the Camp Director in 1973 when Camp Friedlander became the first ever Cub Scout Resident Camp.

Camp Friedlander Fun Fact

This view of Camp Friedlander is looking down on the original campsite from the ridge that is behind the current Greiser Campsite. You can see the old railroad bridge in MIamiville in the background. In the early years that Camp Friedlander was open, many scouts took the train to camp, which conveniently stopped in Miamiville. Scouts traveling from downtown Cincinnati could ride the Pennsylvania Railroad all the way from Union Terminal to Miamiville, then hike the short distance to camp. Obviously, this railway is no longer in existence. It started as the Little Miami Railroad, first serving the area in 1841, and ran to the 1970s when Penn Central collapsed into bankruptcy. The route is now part of the Little Miami Bike Trail.
