FEBRUARY 2019 E-NEWSLETTER
A Message From Our President

Happy February! I am looking forward to celebrating this month with my three favorite valentines, my sons Sebastian, Christopher, and Patrick. I am thankful every single day that I am lucky enough to be their mother, so I'm happy to take any chance I can to celebrate!

Be sure to save the date for a few fun events we have coming up. First off, we will be holding another Vendor Fair at Stumblefoot Brewing in San Marcos, since our December event was such a success! This time we will also have food, courtesy of Philly D's Gourmet Food Truck, so join us for some pre-Valentine's Day shopping and enjoy an ice cold pint and some friendly conversation!

We are also looking forward to beginning registration for Camp I CAN, our popular summer camp, next month starting on March 18th. This program, which we offer in conjunction with Toby Wells YMCA and Magdalena Ecke YMCA, is a great way to fill up those long summer days with a week of supported inclusive fun! Also happening in March is our Spring Family Camp at YMCA Camp Marston! I know my own kids are really looking forward to spending another relaxing weekend in the beautiful hills of Julian, with so many great activities to choose from, including rock climbing, archery, paintball, arts and crafts, or just enjoying the break from our regular hectic life!

Last but certainly not least, I encourage you to mark your calendars for the 17th Annual Splash for Cash on Sunday, April 14th!! This event is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and is also our biggest pool party, with a pancake breakfast and chili cheese dog lunch provided by San Diego's finest firefighters, a chance to swim in the pool and win prizes, plus a fabulous silent auction, and much more! If you create a fundraising page for this event and raise $250 or more, you will be able to access priority registration for our very popular Surf Camp on the day of the event!

I hope you have a fabulous February,
Amy  Munera

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: FEBRUARY 2019

The Autism Society San Diego is proud to roll out a new initiative for 2019 highlighting some of our amazing volunteers and honoring the work they do for our organization

THIS MONTH...MEET DENISE!

Denise Jeschke is the Autism Society San Diego's new treasurer and we are so excited to have her! We asked Denise a few questions about her role at the AS-SD and in her community.

What's your connection to the autism community?
When my youngest daughter Isabella was diagnosed with Autism a couple years ago, I reached out to Autism Society San Diego to learn more about their programs and about the Autism community.

How do you support the Autism Society San Diego?
I have recently joined the Board of Directors as Treasurer and sit on some fundraising committees.

What is your favorite program the Autism Society San Diego is a part of?
There are so many great programs, but to name one, I would think the Surf Camp, which my daughter gets to join in this year!

The simplest way to get involved in supporting our community is...
To get involved in the Autism community, when you see an Autism Society San Diego information booth check it out, and ask questions of how you can join one of our many committees.
