JANUARY 31, 2019
  • NEW YEAR, NEW STAFF
FAWE would like to welcome a new teacher to our staff. Her name is Ms. Amelia Bennett and she is a VE teacher for second and third grade.

Ms. Bennett grew up in Arkansas and received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Missouri State University in 2013. She also attended Savannah College of Art and Design, where she studied Film and Art History.

She loves teaching her students and seeing them grow academically, socially and emotionally. Her hobbies include yoga, fishing, hiking and traveling.

Ms. Bennett is excited to be part of the FAWE family and we welcome her with open arms. Don't hesitate to welcome her to our school!

Students4H20 Recognize Riley
Mrs. Riley was named the inspiring principal of the month for January as chosen by Students4H20 in collaboration with United Way of Martin County Character Counts. She was chosen based on her support for the organization's environmental initiatives and mission to create a sustainable community and planet. “I am honored to help support our school in helping lead the way for environmental awareness and change," Riley said.
Spelling Bee Participants
FAWE would like to congratulate spelling bee participants AJ Barone, Giuseppe Giambanco, Lucy Mater, Deric Ott, Zane Price and Raja Minhas. These students studied, practiced and memorized words for the 53 rd Annual Lillian A. Dassori Elementary Spelling Bee held Jan. 10 at Jensen Beach High School. FAWE had one student that placed in the top 12: Lucy Mayer (sixth). She will be recognized at 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Martin County School Board meeting. We are very proud of all of their hard work and dedication and would like to celebrate their success!
Lead Custodian Celebrated

So often the enormous contributions made by our non-instructional personnel are overshadowed by others; however we must take the time to recognize the significant role they play in the overall environment.

Mr. Michael Geswaldo, Lead Custodian, is most deserving of the nomination for the 2018-2019 School Related Employee of the Year. On Jan. 16, Geswaldo was celebrated at the School Related Employee of the Year Banquet.

As noted by the FAWE staff, he is always checking on how each person is doing. For instance, he knows all the staff cars and when he notices cars in the parking lot of staff working late, he visits their classrooms to make sure they are okay and inquire if they need any help, as well as makes sure they get to their car safely when it’s dark. He greets students and parents with a smile during the school day and at school related functions. FAWE staff and parents all applaud him for his efficiency, kindness and unfailing cheerful disposition that he brings with him to work every day.
Where Are Snargg,
Yoop and Plory?

January began a new raffle that will be taking place every two weeks for the iReady characters Snargg, Yoop and Plory to be a guest in a Kindergarten through fifth-grade classroom. The students are so excited to have the character join their class!

Students are using them during recess to be there as a friend at the Buddy Bench and in the classroom as a reading buddy.
Extended Day Being "Green"
The Extended Day team is proud to announce its latest adaptation. On days that the students have water with snack, instead of the kids throwing half-full water bottles in the trash, which makes it awfully heavy for Mr. Herbert, they now hold all the “half empties” and use them to water the garden. After that, they are deposited into the recycling bin. Win-win!
