Wilson Memorial Park Moat Removal

Houston, TX - Council Member Dave Martin would like to make residents aware of the upcoming moat removal project at Wilson Memorial Park Moat. The City of Houston General Services Department in partnership with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department will begin removal of the moat on Monday, September 17, 2018. The removal and construction is anticipated to be complete by late Spring 2019, weather permitting.

During the project, crews will be on site Monday through Friday, some Saturdays, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Noise is to be expected as crews will be using earth-moving equipment. While the area around the moat wi ll be closed, the park will remain open.

Since 2014, Council Member Martin has been contacted by several residents advocating for the removal of the moat at Wilson Memorial Park as it posed as a major safety hazard.
