St. Luke's Medical Center to Close

Ap plicable to: Mercy Care Complete Care, Mercy Care RBHA, Mercy Care Long Term Care, Mercy Care DD and Mercy Care Advantage
Mercy Care would like to inform our provider network that effective 11/24/2019, St. Luke's Medical Center in Phoenix will close. 

  • The Behavioral Health Center will remain open and normal operations will continue.
  • This closure only applies to the medical hospital on the St. Luke’s campus.
  • All inpatients will be transferred on November 24 to Tempe St. Luke’s or to Mountain Vista Medical Center.

Emergency medical care details
St. Luke’s will stop taking ambulances and admissions in the Emergency Department as of November 23 at 1:01 AM. St. Luke’s will transfer or discharge any inpatients remaining at the hospital by November 24th, 2019. All transfers from the ED will have completed EMTALA forms that accompany the patients.

In case of an emergency requiring immediate attention, Steward has partnered with a third-party ambulance service to provide transport between St. Luke’s and other nearby emergency departments.

As St. Luke’s does not treat pregnant patients, St. Luke’s will not transfer any pregnant patients.

Medical records
Following the closure of St. Luke's, patients’ medical records will be stored at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital.

Patients can request their medical records by calling 480-784-5567 during normal business hours. Additional information is available at www.tempestlukeshospital.org/medical-records .
 
Contract status
Because the other Steward facilities (St. Luke’s Behavioral Health Center, Tempe St. Luke’s, Mountain Vista and Florence Hospital) are remaining open, St. Luke’s is still contracted with Mercy Care. These facilities remaining open will also continue to appear in the Mercy Care provider directory.
