Though federally-sponsored programs responding to COVID-19, including those in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, can be a lifeline to your business, navigating the agreements of such loans is a complicated undertaking. The Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), in particular, requires constant monitoring with frequent changes to guidance on how loan forgiveness is implemented. If you’ve secured funding, you’ll need to supply significant accounting and other documentation to your lender to request forgiveness of your loan. The goal is to limit your exposure, which requires accurate calculations. In this webcast, we will cover how to complete the loan forgiveness application so you can focus on your business’ path to recovery.

Hello everyone, I hope you all are staying safe. As I, sit here thinking about what I want to write in my letter this month. I cannot believe conference had to be postponed; this letter should be talking about how much fun we all had and what we learned. COVID-19 has made several things change in our daily lives; it is hard to believe how much has changed.

Local regulators are stepping up enforcement of protocols, dealers should continue to evaluate their protocols or adopt them for the first time.

As we noted in our July 13, 2020 alert, Governor Newsom has taken steps to reverse some of the reopening rules across the state, focusing on indoor activities. Now local governments, in particular those in Southern California, are modifying local reopening guidance in response to the increase in COVID-19 cases across the state. We have also received word of stepped-up enforcement by local regulators. Due to these changes and increased enforcement activity, every dealer should continue to evaluate their written protocols or adopt them for the first time, if not already completed.

Dave Reese spoke to us on July 15th about managing in the age of COVID-19. We talked about system checking and when it should be done. If employees are doing the checks before they come to work, we should be paying them. Some dealers are doing this once their employees Clock in, so there is no need to add time. Since this is being required by the employer, we must pay them.
He also spoke a little bit about bringing employees back and the challenges that come with that. Workers comp claims were also talked about and the importance of keeping good records to help Covid claims not turning into work comp claims.
