'Olde Suckasunny Day' celebration is this Saturday, September 8th
The 31st annual Olde Suckasunny Day is finally here! Join us on M
ain Street in Succasunna on Saturday, September 8th for a fun-filled day with the family. This decades-long old fashioned street fair hosts vendors, crafters, games, and non-profit groups. It is once again be
co-sponsored by the Roxbury Township Public Library, the First Presbyterian Church of Succasunna and the Succasunna United Methodist Church. Activities and celebrations will be happening at all three adjacent locations be sure to check it all out.
Olde Suckasunny Day events this year will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Main street closes to traffic at 9:30. Fair parking will be at Lincoln/Roosevelt and Franklin Elementary Schools.
- The Cemetery Tour is Back - Tickets On Sale at Suckasunny Day - The Moonlight History & Mystery Cemetery Tour at First Presbyterian Church in Succasunna was such a great hit last year that it is back by popular demand. Church members are busily planning the tour which is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28 starting at 6 p.m. and running until 8 p.m. The moon will be full so come on down to 99 Main Street and tour the cemetery at night, learn a little history, hear real church ghost stories and get in the Halloween spirit! Numbered tickets (with specific tour start times at 5-minute intervals) are being sold and will be available for sale on the church's front lawn at this Saturday's Olde Suckasunny Day street festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets cost only $5 per person in advance and $7 on the day of the event. - Rail History Buffs Announce Olde Suckasunny Day Train Trips - People attending Olde Suckasunny Day on Saturday will be able to ride in a passenger train on the Chester Branch rail line, something that hasn't happened in about 80 years. The Tri-State Railway Historical Society, in partnership with the Dover & Rockaway River Railroad, will be bringing several cabooses from its collection of historic railroad equipment to offer free train rides to the public during the street fair on Saturday. The train will be hauled by Dover & Rockaway River Railroad's "Honoring New Jersey Veterans" locomotive. The patriotically decorated locomotive, a joint effort between the railroad and the Military Transport Association, will be unveiled during a noon ceremony. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., passengers can board the train at the rail crossing on Main Street, between Railroad Avenue and Eyland Place. A free shuttle will be available at the corner of Main Street and Hunter Avenue to bring riders on the short drive to the train. Click here to read more from Tap Into Roxbury.
Roxbury Schools Invites You to the inaugural FitnessRox Family Fun Run
The Roxbury Township Public Schools will be holding its inaugural FitnessRox Family Fun Run on Tuesday, October 16th at Lincoln/Roosevelt School at 34 North Hillside Avenue in Succasunna, NJ. Registration and check-in opens at 4:00 p.m. at Lincoln/Roosevelt School and the run will begin at 5:00 p.m. The event is open to everyone!
The course will kick off at Lincoln/Roosevelt School to celebrate Lincoln School's 100th birthday! The course will include various fitness stations between Franklin and Lincoln/Roosevelt Schools including Meeker Street. Participants can park at either Franklin Elementary School at 8 Meeker Street in Succasunna or in the Lincoln/Roosevelt School parking lots.
The tax-deductible registration fees are $20 per individual participants and $50 for registering your immediate family (up to seven people). To register for this event, go to
www.roxbury.org/FitnessRox. The first 500 registrations before October 5th will receive a free reusable water bottle and FitnessRox t-shirt.
The funds raised from this fun, family event will help Roxbury Schools continue its goal of providing health and wellness for its staff and students. In particularly this year at Lincoln/Roosevelt School, the funds will go to help equip the new Wellness Room with yoga mats, resistance bands, etc. to promote lifelong fitness, mindfulness, and wellness.
Roxbury Township Public Schools are preparing the children of today for tomorrow by helping them to grow strong in minds and bodies. As a Bronze certificated Sustainable Jersey for School district, it is our goal to increase awareness and participation in health and wellness programs that not only benefit our students and staff but our community as a whole.

Roxbury Boys Soccer Starts Season on Right Foot
The Roxbury High School boys soccer team got a good start to the season Wednesday with a win over Montville.
Playing at home on a hot afternoon, the Gaels defeated the Mustangs 1-0.

Box Tops for Education
Roxbury Township Public Schools are continuously collecting "Box Tops for Education" at our K-8 schools.
This is an easy, practically effortless way to raise funds for our schools by purchasing items you buy all the time.
Clipped box tops can be sent to any of our K-8 schools district-wide. School addresses can be found on our website at
