40th Annual Joust

The pageantry returns to West Campus this weekend!

Join the Lake Park High School Marching Band at West Campus on Saturday, September 8 for the 40th Annual Lancer Joust Marching Band Competition.

Lake Park takes great pride in hosting this exceptional music event, a tradition now spanning four decades, which invites high school programs throughout the region to showcase the talents and skills of students.

Featuring 16 outstanding bands from Illinois and the Midwest, the Joust competition begins at approximately 1:00 p.m. following the opening ceremony and includes judging in three classes in a Preliminary and Finals competition format. The Lake Park Marching Band will conclude the afternoon performances a t approximately 5:30 p.m. with a debut of their show, Shipwreck, during an exhibition performance.

Joust admission is by ticket only and valid for both Preliminary and Finals competition. Visit the Lancer Joust website for more information about ticket prices, seating and parking.

Student Absence Notification System

Phone calls and emails help ensure daily accuracy.

Beginning this week, Lake Park once again implemented a notification system that auto-generates messages to parents for unaccounted student absences during the school day. This communication initiative is designed to improve efficiency as well as ensure accuracy of student records. If a student is marked absent in periods 1 or 2, notification will be sent alerting parents by 10:00 a.m. The same communication will be sent at the end of day for students who are absent during any periods 3-8.

Parents who receive the notification messages are asked to contact the attendance office to verify if the absence should be recorded as excused or unexcused. If parents have already made a call to the school, the attendance notification can be disregarded.

2018-19 Theatre Season Opens September 13

Thespians take center stage in a swashbuckling prequel to Peter Pan.

The 2018-19 theatre season will debut with Peter and the Starcatcher, a prequel to Peter Pan based on the children's book by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Performances begin at 7:00 p.m. on September 13, 14 and 15 in the Lake Park East Campus Dice Auditorium.

This coming-of-age adventure story is about how a nameless orphan - inspired by a remarkable and ambitious girl - became the strange and celebrated hero that is the Boy Who Would Not Grow Up. In this five-time Tony Award-winning play, an apprentice starcatcher and a young orphan boy find themselves on a life-changing adventure when they are charged with protecting a magical treasure from fearsome pirates.

Discover this opening production that promises to be rich in humor, magic and touching sincerity! Featuring a cast of 25 students, the show includes Cole Mensik (10) as the Boy, Elizabeth Saylor (10) as Molly, Brian Provenzano (11) as Black Stache, and Jillian McAuliffe (10) as Mrs. Bumbrake.

Upcoming FAFSA Presentation

Lancer families are invited to attend an important college overview on September 20.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 20, at 7:00 p.m. when the Lake Park High School Counseling Department will host an important

overview about the college admission and financial aid processes.

Lancer students and families are invited to attend this presentation that will cover details about general application requirements, how to provide transcripts and test scores to colleges, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), scholarships, resources available to assist students with post-graduation planning, and more.

The first part of this informational evening will include a presentation from Mr. Joe Ziemba, Lake Park's College and Career Counselor, and the second part will feature a presentation from Ms. Jennifer Prusko, Financial Aid Representative in the College of DuPage. The FAFSA application for the 2019-20 academic year will be available starting October 1, 2018.

Make a Difference Day 2018

Lake Park High School is proud to offer a variety of free youth clinics - led by Lake Park coaches, directors, teachers and students - as part of the school's fourth annual Make a Difference Day event on Saturday, September 22, following the Homecoming Parade. The idea behind Make a Difference Day is simple; Lancers want to give back to the community as much as possible. On this day, countless students and staff members are expected to provide a variety of community service projects.

This year, Lake Park will once again give back to residents by offering a variety of engaging and absolutely free clinics available at Lake Park West Campus. Clinics include:

Lake Park Homecoming Parade Route Announced

View the downtown Roselle route for participants and spectators.

Join in the fun of this year's quadrennial Homecoming Parade, showcasing Lake Park's partnership with the Village of Roselle, the Downtown Roselle Business Merchants, Roselle Police and Roselle Fire.

School and community groups are invited to participate in the festivities o n Saturday, September 22. Visit the Homecoming Parade web page to learn more information about participant guidelines and to complete an application by the deadline of Friday, September 14.

Through collaboration with the Village and Police, the 2018 Homecoming Parade route has been finalized!

Parade spectators are encouraged to set-up along Main Street to view the Parade. However, Main Street will be closed to traffic ahead of the Parade for safety and organization.

8:00 a.m. Staging will begin in the American Legion Hall back parking lot, 344 E. Maple Ave, Roselle.

9:00 a.m. Parade will begin

End : Parade will let off at Elm and Prospect; pick up in Village and Police Department parking lots.

Calling All Lake Park Alumni
Lake Park alums invited to celebrate Homecoming and class reunions.

Don't miss your chance to return to campus and get involved as the Lake Park Educational Foundation hosts the Alumni End Zone at the homecoming game on Friday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m. at West Campus.

All Lake Park alumni, current staff, retired staff and their families are invited to cheer on the 2018 Lancers as they take on Glenbard North High School in the new DuKane Conference.

Graduating classes from years ending in "8" or "3" (1968, 1973, 1978, 1983 and so on) will be recognized. Reservations are not required, but you must purchase a ticket for the football game to join in the alumni section.

Alumni classes are also encouraged to participate in or spectate at the 2018 Homecoming Parade in downtown Roselle on Saturday, September 22. V isit the alumni website for more information about upcoming reunions.

Breaking Boundaries on October 3

Lake Park West Campus proudly co-sponsors a special career exploration series for women.

Lake Park High School is proud to partner with the DuPage County Workforce Development Division to host the 3rd annual Breaking Boundaries event on Wednesday, October 3 at West Campus. Register today for this free program that is open to all students, families and the public.

Nontraditional fields for women offer rewarding and fulfilling careers. Modern manufacturing, technology, and production jobs have changed dramatically and there are many misconceptions about what these jobs are and who can do them. Come to this special career exploration series for women to get the facts about traditionally male-dominated fields.

Explore the personal and financial benefits of moving into nontraditional fields including greater demand and higher pay.
Walk around the Employer and Career Pathway Showcase.
Meet female physicists, engineers, IT professionals, welders, sheet metal workers, auto mechanics, electricians and business owners working in industries building and designing the future.
Get expert advice on career planning and low-to-no-cost training opportunities.

Kayleen McCabe, host of the cable television program "Rescue Renovation," will be the featured guest speaker. A contractor and renovation expert, McCabe is an ardent advocate of the value of trade careers and a supporter of women entering nontraditional fields.

Oktoberfest Fundraiser to Benefit Student Athletes

Advance tickets are available for the October 10 event.

The Lake Park Booster Club invites family, friends and community members to participate in the inaugural Oktoberfest Fundraiser on Wednesday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m. Benefiting all Lancer athletic programs, the event will be hosted at Pollyanna Brewing Company located at 245 E. Main Street in Roselle.

Tickets are $15 if purchased in advance ($20 at the door) and will be sold at all home football games and select fall sporting events. Guests will enjoy a food truck, plenty of beverages, the opportunity for split-the-pot and raffle baskets. For more information, contact Sherry Schellinger or Jodie Colucci .

The Lake Park Athletic Booster Club is a non-profit organization composed of parents, staff, and alumni. Sharing a common goal to enhance the experience of student athletes by raising funds for all 27 Lake Park athletic clubs, the Booster Club raises funds through an annual membership drive, corporate sponsorships, concessions, spirit wear and school store sales. Over the past 12 years, the Lake Park Booster Club has provided in excess of $660,000 to the athletic programs to fund expenses not included in the Lake Park athletic budget.
