Nevada AAP WWAD Kids Time

For over 4 years, the Nevada Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Nevada AAP) has led in-person Walk with a Doc events to encourage families to learn about pediatric health topics and go for a walk with doctors in our community. Starting in April 2020, the Nevada AAP temporarily changed our monthly in-person Walk with a Doc events for the Las Vegas and Reno communities into one, state-wide virtual event the second Sunday of every month.

For the July 2020 walk, we had a bit of an adventure!

Dear Walkers,

The Nevada AAP had planned for Dr. Jacqueline Patterson, owner of Revive Orofacial Therapy and Wellness Center, to present a brief, kid-friendly talk about the many reasons why kids should breathe through their nose and then take your questions live. Although Dr. Patterson joined us at the start of our live event, her computer overheated (it's hot in Las Vegas!) so we couldn't connect as planned.

After the live event, Dr. Patterson recorded her wonderful talk and we are so appreciative to be able to bring this video to our families! The video below starts with Dr. McAllister who was live on July 12 at 10 am, then transitions into Dr. Patterson's recorded talk, and then back to Dr. McAllister who concluded the event.

Next Walk on

Sunday, August 9

When it is safe to do so, we will resume our in-person walks in Las Vegas and Reno.

In the meantime:

Keep walking every day
Wear sunscreen
Bring water
Keep 6 feet from other people
For everyone 2 years and older, wear a mask when you can't socially distance
