, the Rancho Cordova Police Department's (RCPD) e-newsletter. RCPD has enjoyed celebrating the holiday season in our community through a host of local events, including the Rancho Cordova Police Activities League (PAL) Holiday Run, parades, toy drives and more. We hope you enjoyed participating in these events!
I continue to be inspired by the generosity of our community. You came together to support local families in need this holiday season through Christmas in Cordova. This year's event was possible because of residents and businesses that made donations and dedicated their time by volunteering. I want to personally thank you for your support.
I hope you experience the joy and happiness that you brought to others this holiday season. On behalf of RCPD, we wish you a warm and bright holiday season and Happy New Year!

A Home for the Holidays
A Rancho Cordova family of four was experiencing homelessness in our community. The family learned about the City of Rancho Cordova's Homeless Outreach Team, which is comprised of our Homeless Outreach Navigator, two RCPD Officers, code enforcement and two members who retrieve shopping carts and clean up encampments, and reached out for assistance with finding housing and other services.

Rancho Cordova Brings Christmas Spirit to 800 Kids
RCPD and its partners
ensured more than 800 children have a gift for Christmas by hosting the 8th annual Christmas in Cordova event! Parents of these children, aged newborn to 17, were welcomed to the Christmas in Cordova "shopping mall," where they selected gifts for their children with the help of their own personal shopper. Then, each parent entered the toy wrapping room where volunteers helped wrap the gifts, so they're ready to be placed under the tree on Christmas day. The event also included an arts and craft area for children to make gifts for their parents, meals for the families, and a surprise visit from Santa.
A special thank you to all the residents and businesses that generously donated gifts, wrapping supplies and food to this event and volunteered at the event alongside us!

Holiday STARs Shine Brightly in Rancho Cordova
The Holiday STAR (Student Talent Achievement Reward) program returned to Rancho Cordova on Thursday, December 20! RCPD, the City of Rancho Cordova and Rancho Cordova schools recognized 41 preschool and elementary school sudents in the City who, despite challenging financial circumstances, have worked hard to become high achievers both academically and behaviorally.
The students were treated to a special breakfast; received new clothes, shoes and a backpack; and rewarded with a $100 holiday shopping spree at Walmart Rancho Cordova! The excitement was streamed live on RCPD's Facebook page, so

Did You Know...?
Did you know we offer Live Scan services at RCPD? We process Live Scan digital fingerprints and digital fingerprint cards at 2897 Kilgore Road, Monday-Friday between 9 AM-12:30 PM and 1 PM-4:30 PM. Customers are assisted on a first come, first served basis and prices vary depending on the service.

Driving Under the Influence Enforcement Operations Planned this December
Officers from RCPD's Traffic Division will be conducting additional proactive patrols t
his month to identify and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers to continue improving traffic safety in the City of Rancho Cordova. Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Saturation Patrols will take place throughout the month of December between the hours of 8 PM and 3 AM in areas at higher risk for DUI collisions and/or arrests.

Every Kid Needs a PAL
Holiday Run Supports Rancho Cordova Youth
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the
5th annual Rancho Cordova PAL Holiday Run on Saturday, December 8! Around 400 people participated in the run to support the more than 1,500 local youth who participate in Rancho Cordova PAL programs annually.
PAL raised over $9,800 to enable us to continue providing free, educational and leadership program for kids, as well as purchase sports equipment such as bicycle helmets and basketballs. Plus, you donated over 400 toys to support Christmas in Cordova!
This year's run also remembered Rancho Cordova Police Officer Mark Stasyuk who was killed in the line of duty on September 17, 2018. The Stasyuk family and friends participated in the run, and event attendees remembered Officer Stasyuk by participating in a special ceremony and wearing commemorative race t-shirts and medal lanyards.

Crime Suppression Unit
Keeping Your Packages Safe
The holiday shopping season is here, and for the fourth year in a row, RCPD's Crime Suppression Unit is taking a proactive approach to prevent package thefts and protect our residents. Story of the Month
On Friday, November 23, RCPD Officers responded to a robbery that had occurred at a business near Zinfandel Drive and Olson Drive. Officers learned the suspect was armed and fired one time with a handgun during the robbery, and stole money and a cell phone. Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery.
RCPD Patrol Officers and Officers assigned to the Crime Suppression Unit were able to identify the suspect's location in Rancho Cordova, and RCPD Detectives were able to obtain video footage of the suspect's vehicle.

How do I get a free vacation home check while I'm traveling?
A:
Sign up for a vacation home check by our Volunteers in Partnership with the Sheriff (VIPS) by calling 916-875-9600, or filling out this form and returning it to RCPD, 2897 Kilgore Road, Monday-Friday between 9 AM-5 PM.
A volunteer patrol will visit your home every day and check the windows and doors to make sure that your home is protected. RCPD also encourages you to ask one of your neighbors to keep an eye on your property while you are away.
