New Sermon Series starts January 13
I must admit that I am a fan of the TV Show "This is Us." Now it is not a particularly Christian show. In fact, the actors in it are not mean or evil, but they use swear words and mess up their lives, just like you or I would. A friend recently confessed to me that the show was exactly like his own family. It seems that everybody who becomes a fan of "This Is Us" says the same thing:
"THIS IS US". They literally see themselves in the stories. Well there are also a lot of great Bible stories about us as well, so in the spirit of the show, we will explore some of those stories of betrayal, anger, selfishness... and just plain old sin this winter.
Romans 3:23 says
"... all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" and all the people said,
"THIS IS US"
!
En Agape',
Michael

2019 Ministry at Slash
It is hard to believe we have arrived in another new year. 2019 is here. Let's make it a great year at church, home and throughout the world community both here and abroad. Christ has taught us how. Love God and love your neighbor. While these words are great, they are even better when witnessed in action.
Service to Christ's Church is both a privilege and a necessary part of our Christian journey through life. As the scripture says the body has many parts and all are important to the its health and well being. If you are serving in a role "Thank You" if not and want to contribute your talent we are looking forward to it. There are many opportunities where you can share your talents in a meaningful way. Everything we need in life God has provided for us. All we need is a willing heart and positive spirit to make this world a little better each day. There was a movie out a number of years ago called "Pay it Forward" . What an inspiring idea!
If you have a special area you are interested in let myself or Pastor Michael know.
In Christ's Service
Reggie

Outreach Opportunities
Thanksgiving Offering
Thank you for your support of this special offering
totaling $790.00.
Christmas Special Offering
Our Christmas Offering was received December 16 and 23. Through this offering we
witness to the power of God to make things new. We foster faith development and nurture the development of new pastors. Your gifts go far to support regional ministries. As of this writing, $267.46 has been received and sent to the Disciples Mission Fund. Additional gifts will be sent in January. Thank you for your support.
Christmas Family
Our Christmas Family thanks you so much for opening your hearts for them. You stepped up as always with your truly generous outpouring of love to those less fortunate and to whom you do not even know. Gifts of bicycles, toys, dolls, clothing, gift cards and items for the home were delivered on Thursday, December 20th. Your gifts were so much appreciated and needed. Wouldn't we have loved to see the looks on their faces as they opened Santa's gifts! Thank you again from the Outreach Team!
GLOVES AND HATS for the Christmas Mother! Again, you have helped to keep little hands warm. On behalf of the Christmas Mother, thank you to everyone who donated gloves to help those less fortunate!

Thank you for your kindness in remembering our mother, Ann Kersey Graham, and honoring our Aunt Helen and Uncle Don. Mom has been a devout member of Winfree and her church meant a great deal to her. Joan Heath & Kathy Traxler (daughters)
We so appreciate your contribution to our Hats for Hanover Christmas Mother project. Your generosity of 212 pairs of gloves and 25 hats was wonderful. We meet on Wednesday night and anyone is welcome to join us. Please keep knitting and crocheting, so we can make this possible again next year. If interested contact June Chappell at 730-1418.
