KCCO News and Updates
This year marks KCCO's 60 th consecutive season of making music accessible to everyone in the Kansas City metro area, and we're excited to continue bringing our audiences the concerts and events they love!

This season's program once again includes classical and pops series concerts, as well as our annual holiday concerts - our most well-attended performances of the season! In addition to these free concerts, we are also making our second appearance at Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, where we will conclude our season with a special fundraising performance.

We look forward to seeing you at our first concert of the season!

A "Changing of the Guard"

As we begin our 60th season, we are acknowledging the departure of KCCO president  Marcia Barber and welcoming our new co-presidents, Don Goldenbaum and Sheila Evans. Marcia made great contributions to the orchestra during her five-year tenure as president, and Don and Sheila are eager to continue the momentum.

Concerts

KCCO's 60th season concert themes include "American Fanfare," "Heroes and Villains," "Legend, Lyricism, and Ludwig," and our annual "Sounds of the Season" concert, during which lucky raffle winners are given the opportunity to conduct the orchestra's performance of Sleigh Ride. For this season's finale we will return to fabulous Helzberg Hall for a special fundraising performance. We look forward to seeing you there!
Musician Spotlight

Charles (Charlie) Jessup  has been a member of both the Kansas City Civic Orchestra and the Overland Park Orchestra for over forty years. He has been a flute soloist for various churches and played for weddings and receptions. More recently, he has developed concerts at nursing homes, focusing on music from the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's. In addition to being a musician and optometrist Charlie is also bilingual (he speaks French), and he enjoys hiking and photography.
Outreach Activities

Our outreach committee has performed for over 3,500 students over the last year and reached more than 2,000 residents and staff at senior living facilities, and they have no plans to slow down!

Get Involved

KCCO is able to offer free concerts and outreach activities thanks to generous support from our members and supporters. The more volunteers we have, the more we can do! Whether you're a music-lover who wants to give back, or a student or professional looking for community service opportunities to add experience to your resume, there are a number of ways you can contribute.

Friends of Civic
Joining Friends of Civic is a great way to get involved with KCCO. Friends of Civic members are a fun group that helps the orchestra by greeting concert attendees and supporting activities like the annual fundraising silent auction and instrument petting zoo. As a Friends member you'll be a key part of the KC area's cultural scene, you'll be giving back to our audience members, and you'll have the deep appreciation of our orchestra and board members.

If you would like to get more involved with KCCO, or just want to learn more about the opportunities available, get in touch!
