York Catholic High School-Four Diamonds Spirit Night at Handel's Ice Cream is tonight, Thursday, September 6, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Handel's, 2310 S. Queen Street in Spry. Every flyer that is returned to Handel's tonight will be totaled and York Catholic will receive 20% of the total sales brought in from the flyers. Spirit Shirt Friday



Tomorrow, September 7, is Spirit Shirt Friday. Students can pay $1 in homeroom and wear their favorite YC spirit shirt in place of their uniform shirt. Students still must wear the standard uniform pants, shorts, skirt, or skort. All money collected from this fundraiser goes toward the YC Technology Fund.
Class of 2019 T-shirt Sale

Class of 2019 t-shirts will be on sale September 4-7 and can be purchased by clicking here or accessing the online store on the YC website. T-shirts are $12 with a $3 shipping charge and all ordering must be completed by September 7.
Color Run
The Senior High Student Council is sponsoring a 3K Color Run on Saturday, September 8, at 9 AM. A color run features a 3K course around the York Catholic campus where runners/walkers will go through clouds of colored powder to "decorate" their clothing. Hint: It's best to wear white! 

Click here for the registration form.  The registration form and $15 fee are due August 30. On-site registration is available at 8 AM the day of the event, but a race t-shirt will not be included. All proceeds from this event will benefit York Catholic's Mini-THON and the Four Diamonds fight against pediatric cancer.

Marching Band at York Fair

Look for the YC Marching Band at the York Fair on Sunday, September 9, when they perform at the grandstand in High School Bands on Parade. The show starts at 1 PM with YC scheduled for a 1:24 PM performance. The show is free with your Fair admission. The band would love to see you in the grandstand!
Junior High Tailgate
The 7th & 8th Grade students are invited to the Junior High Tailgate on Friday, September 14, from 5-6:45 PM on the front lawn.  Pizza, party subs, water, and paper products will be provided. Please bring a covered dish to share.  Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend. After the tailgate, families can cheer the Irish football team on to victory vs. Littlestown. Kickoff is 7 PM. Cost for the game is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Back to School Night
We hope to see you at Back to School Night Tuesday, September 11, at 6 PM. The evening begins with a School Board Leadership and Principal Presentation.  Immediately following the presentation, parents will meet the teachers and learn about class expectations. We look forward to seeing all of our parents in attendance.
Futures Games
Partner school students in grades 1-6 are invited to Futures Games at York Catholic! Come out and be part of the team as you cheer for your future school! S pend time with the varsity players and coaches , listen to coach's pregame instruction, participate in team prayer, sit together to cheer on the team, and pose for a picture with the team.

School will be closed Wednesday, September 12, while teachers attend the Diocesan Educational Conference.  
Auditions for Fall Play
Open auditions for the Fall Play,  "You Can't Take it With You,"  will take place Thursday, September 13 from 3:30-5:30 PM in the auditorium. Students in grades 9-12 may audition.   No advance preparation is needed.  All materials will be provided.  Please bring your calendar to list any conflicts you may have with the rehearsal schedule. A tentative rehearsal schedule will be distributed at auditions.  If you are interested in stage management or crew please stop by the auditions to sign up.  The performance dates are November 16, 17, and 18.  If you have any questions, please contact play director, Ms. Hallisey, at  [email protected] .
Elementary Band Camp
York Catholic is hosting an Elementary Marching Band Camp on Saturday, September 22, from 8 AM-2 PM for any 4th, 5th, or 6th grade student who has played a band instrument for at least a year or who would be interested in color guard. Students will have the opportunity to play level-appropriate Marching Band music, as well as learn basic drill techniques, and basic color guard techniques with a little fun thrown in. A mini-show for parents will take place at 1:45 PM.  Lunch, snack, flipbook, lyre, and music will be provided. Cost is $25 per child, $40 for 2 children, $55 for 3 children.  Please bring a refillable water bottle, comfortable sneakers, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, and comfortable clothing.  Please register by September 17 by contacting Cecelia Mezza at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x224 or by clicking here

Any 6th grade band student who attends a parochial school is welcome to play with the York Catholic Marching Band in the stands at the October 12 football game.  You do not need to attend the mini camp in order to play with us.  Please email Ms. Mezza if you are interested. Report time is at 5:45 PM in the YC Band Room. Students can leave at halftime or stay for the full game.
Elementary Cheer Clinic
YC's Varsity Cheerleaders will be hosting a Cheer Clinic for students in grades K-6 on Saturday, September 22, from 9 AM-12 PM in the gymnasium with a showcase of what was learned performed from 11:45 AM-noon. Participants will learn cheers, chants, and a dance. K-6 cheerleaders who participate will get an opportunity to join the varsity squad on the sidelines at the YC football game on October 12.  Cost for one child is $25, two children are $35, and three children are $45. Powderpuff Volleyball Game*
Females from grades 11 & 12 will play a volleyball game against the female teachers on Thursday, September 27, at 2 PM in the gymnasium.  Senior boys will act as coaches and cheerleaders.
 
Bonfire
The Homecoming Bonfire is scheduled for Thursday, September 27, beginning at 7 PM on the lacrosse practice field (by the alley entrance of the stadium).  The fall sports teams will have relay contests to start the night so come cheer on your favorite team.  Go IRISH!
 
Pep Rally/Parade/Football Game/Alumni Band & Cheerleaders
The annual Homecoming Pep Rally is Friday, September 28, at 2:20 PM with the Parade beginning at 5:30 PM. Join us for the football game versus Bermudian Springs at 7 PM.

Marching Band Alumni bring your instruments and sit with the Band during this year's Homecoming game! If you are planning on playing with the band, email  [email protected]    and we will have music ready for you.  If you would like your music in advance, please state that in your email along with your mailing address.

Homecoming Dance*
The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 29, from 7-10 PM in the cafeteria.  Tickets are $10 per student and will be on sale September 24-28 from 7:45-8:15 AM and 3:00-3:15 PM in Room 210.  The Formal Dress Code Agreement is required by all students who wish to attend the dance.  Any student wishing to bring a guest to the dance must also submit a Guest Permission Form.  Parents and students please know the guidelines will be strictly enforced.  The most recent trend of formal dress includes two-piece dresses that slightly expose the midriff.  Please know that an exposed midriff at any point throughout the evening will not be permitted and the student will be required to change into something acceptable.   Click  here   for required forms.  Any questions, please contact Melissa Emschweiler at   [email protected] .

Even though the 2019 color yearbooks are not distributed until May, NOW is the time to place your order for a book. Extra yearbooks are not available in May. Special Note for Parents of Seniors:
There will be a special section of the 2019 yearbook reserved only for parents of seniors to send a message to their senior son or daughter. It is a great keepsake and a wonderful way to congratulate your child for all of their years of hard work. The rectangular space costs $20 and can be in full color with a total of 30 words and 1 picture. Photos should be in good condition and printed on photo paper. Please click here for the Senior Form and return it with your payment (checks made payable to York Catholic High School) to Mrs. Nagley no later than Tuesday, November 20.
Military Info Share
Junior and Senior Parents:  The school is obligated to give names, addresses, and phone numbers of our juniors and seniors to the armed services upon their request, unless parents opt out of having the information shared.  If you do not want us to share your student's information with the military, please contact Mrs. Sheila Gick at 717-846-8871 x217 or  [email protected]   indicating your wishes by September 14.
Driver's Education
York Catholic students wishing to receive Driver's Education during the school day can contact David Strine's Driving School, LLC at www.strinesdriving.com . David Strine is a certified driving instructor through the PA Department of Education and the PA Department of Transportation. Mr. Strine will work with the student's study hall schedule to provide the 6-hour Behind the Wheel Training course. Cost for the course is $350. In Case You Missed It...
York Catholic student-athletes, musicians, and coaches for all seasons participated in a Rosary Rally led by Father Jon Sawicki last week.  The Rosary Rally is an event of SportsLeader, a Catholic virtue-based formation program whose four pillars are Virtue, Mentoring, Ceremony, and Catholic Identity. It is designed for schools and teams interested in a structured, intentional, and specific method and curriculum to help form leaders and teach virtue.  Click here for more information about the SportsLeader program.
