J. Thomas Briody, MHSc, was appointed President and CEO in 2012, bringing 25 years of leadership expertise in the continuum of elder care services, coupled with a breadth and depth of knowledge in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Over the past seven years, the Institute on Aging (IOA) has more than doubled in size, serving over 20,000 individuals per year. In 2018, IOA expanded its services in Southern California.
IOA works to enhance the quality of life for adults as they age by enabling them to maintain their health, well-being, independence and participation in the community. IOA serves a diverse population of older adults and disabled adults by providing innovative, community-based programs that enable clients to live at home for as long as possible. IOA serves as an essential partner in the continuum of care by providing health services, social and emotional support, and education and advocacy.

IOA's vision for supporting families and individuals with dementia: This vision believes that no family should face dementia alone. Our focus is on creating a world where those with dementia and their loved ones have a guide to help them through this life-altering diagnosis.
