We Need a Truck, Can You Help?
GSSSC Property Department is needing a maintenance truck to be able to move equipment around the state. Due to the size of the equipment that has to be moved the council needs a ¾ ton to 1 ton pickup truck i.e. F250 or F350.  Ideally we would like a newer tuck with a 5yr lease option, but would be willing to look at purchasing one 2010 or newer in very good to excellent shape. It needs to have a standard tow package. If you have a truck to sell/donate or have a connection to help us get into a lease/option please call Property Manager Eric Landaluce at 208-810-7245.
Thank you for your support!

Camp Wrap Up

I can't believe another camp season has come to a close. It feels like the summer just started and the first campers were arriving at camp. I always say "Summer days are long, but the weeks are short!".
Every summer is a new beginning, not just for our campers, but for our staff. They make new memories, build new friendships, and develop new skills.

This summer brought 645 girls to our camps (with 63 of those being brand new Girl Scouts to join in on the fun!).  We had paddle boarding, overnight hikes, camp outs at new camp grounds, and horses at TAM!  While the camps fall silent, and the singing is done, we will hold to our memories and some of the comments left behind from the campers.

What did you like about your camp experience? Here are some comments from camper evaluations:
  • "Unplugged time with my girl."
  • "That I can swim underwater with my eyes closed."
  • "It is okay to be a little shy.  It is easy to make new friends."
We look forward to another great summer of smiles, fun andfriendships and hope to see you there! Watch for your camp guide to come in December and for registration to open in January.

Welcome Back to a New Year of Adventurers!

The school bell has rung, and the summer days are ending. As we reflect on the summer memories (Get Outdoors Challenge, My Parks = My Adventure Program, summer camp, day camps, movies in the park and so much more) let's also celebrate the beginning of the new Girl Scout year and the adventures it will bring.

This year brings new badges and Journeys, continued
partnershipsfor girl activities, another great cookie season, new adventures at camp and so much more. Here are a few things to consider as you start your year:
  • Are you registered for
  •  the new membership year? For each girl registered by October 1, the Service Unit will receive $1. These funds assist with financial assistance, events, etc.
  • Invite a friend to join with you. Don't keep the fun times a secret! We have lots of Discover Girl Scout events on our calendar that you can share.
  • Parents can help in so many ways!  From driving for a field trip, being 1st Aid/CPR certified, providing snacks, helping with cookies, and more.  How about 4 for Her?  Commit to 4 hours this year for your Girl Scouts troop.
  • Follow us on Facebook to stay up-to-date on engaging activities and girl-led discoveries. Help us reach 3,000 Facebook followers, and one lucky friend will win a $50 gift certificate to the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage retail store.
We look forward to spending another year with you and your Girl Scout!

Yours in Girl Scouting,
Jeannie Pattan
