Foreclosure Prevented: Ms. Z Modifies Her Loan and Stays in Her Home
Thanks to generous supporters and donors, LASP is able to provide real solutions to people like Ms. Z*.

When Ms. Z's husband left her and their children, he took the majority of the family's income with him. Soon, she fell behind on her home's mortgage and faced foreclosure. Terrified that she and her three young children would lose their home, and with nowhere else to turn, she came to LASP for help.

Her experienced Housing attorney helped her effectively respond to the foreclosure action and advised her on the loan modification process. With her attorney's help, Ms. Z was able to work out a modification with the lender that allowed her family remain in their home.

This year's County Attorney Campaigns for LASP are underway, so look for your letter in the mail!

Your support brings skilled, legal representation to low-income people facing serious legal problems and helps ensure the fairness of our justice system.

Thank you!

After forty years with Legal Aid, William Shimer, Esq., Managing Attorney for LASP's Norristown office, is retiring.

"Bill has been a dedicated, caring and skilled member of the Legal Aid staff for 40 years," says Harvey Strauss, Executive Director at LASP from 1976 to 2013, and who hired Bill as a Staff Attorney at Legal Aid in 1977.

"He's an excellent attorney, who has been an important part of Legal Aid's success. His work has kept numerous families intact, saved the homes of low income residents across our county, helped senior citizens from being victimized in scams and represented those facing overwhelming debt.  Bill is a good guy, who has done a great job."

We will all miss Bill, and wish him the best! Be sure to look for a profile on Bill in the next issue of the Montgomery County Bar Association's SideBar publication.
