Farm Notes

Fields are filling, fruit is swelling

We continue to plant more and more fields on the farm. Last week we nestled in the transplants of celery and celeriac. This week we will transplant the leeks. These are all crops that were seeded back in February and will now grow in the fields for the next few months intended for fall harvests.

Elsewhere on the farm the apricots are looking like the best crop in at least three years. The apricots were some of the first trees to blossom and now the fruit are smaller than a dime, but will be swelling up in the next several weeks to make for the first tree fruit harvests of the season. Two years ago we planted additional apricot trees so we hope to have even more in the future. The strawberries are sure to be ready before the apricots and the strawberry fields are full of blossoms that will become the plump fruit we all love.
