Autumn in Superior means it’s time for the annual 2nd grade field trips where youngsters from Superior Elementary, Eldorado K-8 and Monarch K-8 visit Grasso Park and the Historical Museum then get an inside look at the Board Room and hear from their elected officials. This field experience gives 2nd graders a look at the area’s history and an orientation to local government. As of this writing, the field trip schedule is:

September 14th – Eldorado K-8
September 28th – Superior Elementary
October 5th – Monarch K-8

Field trips are in the morning and end with a picnic lunch at Founders Park. Maybe you 2nd grade parents can help? Check with your child’s teacher as there is always a need for adult companions on these trips.

Otherwise, the Superior Historical Museum is open on the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As was mentioned last month, we have interesting school related exhibits that might interest your family as the new school year begins.

For further information, contact Bryan Meyer, Town Staff, at 303-499-3675 or Larry Dorsey, Commission Chair, at 303-499-1969.
"Mayor finds 100+ year old print inside wall during remodel!"

Mayor Folsom recently purchased a 1910 former miner’s cabin in Original Superior on William Street. During remodeling work there, crews found an print from 1892 nailed to the inside of one of the walls. The Town’s Historical Commission plans to clean and frame it for display at the Superior Historical Museum.
At the Firehouse
As of August 1st, Rocky Mountain Fire (RMF) added an advanced life support transport ambulance to Station 5 in Rock Creek. RMF Station 5 now staffs a four-person engine crew and a two-person ambulance crew. The additional ambulance in Rock Creek will ensure even quicker responses to your emergency medical needs.

Additionally, RMF will no longer charge residents of the district anything above their insurance deductible. We want to residents to feel confident that, if an emergency medical need should arise, that cost should not be a consideration.  Your health and well-being are our priority.

Another service we are happy to provide is support for community functions and events. Please come see us at Chili Fest at Community Park and taste our red and green chili September 8 from 2:00-6:00 pm . We’ll be there under the red Rocky Mountain Fire tent, come say hi. For more information about Rocky Mountain Fire services visit us at www.rockyfire.org Facebook @RockyMtnFire.

New Regional Wayfinding Signage Coming to Superior

In 2013, Commuting Solutions, in partnership with Boulder, Boulder County, Broomfield, Louisville, Superior and Westminster began developing a branded identity for consistent wayfinding signage along the US 36 Corridor and at RTD stations. The Wayfinding signage was part of ten corridor wide recommendations that were the result of the US 36 First & Final Mile Study

Research has shown that consistent wayfinding signage:
  • Encourages residents and visitors to navigate our region with ease, enhancing the connectivity and economic vitality of every community involved with the project.
  • The branded signs enhance the regions identity, representing a united corridor that allows travelers to seamlessly travel throughout the northwest region. The signs re-enforce branding that has already been in place
  • The new signage encourages multimodal travel throughout the region, with an emphasis in increasing equity and access to every mode our region has to offer.

The signs are being installed along the US 36 Bikeway and at the US 36 & McCaslin Station in September 2018. For more information about the Wayfinding Project, please visit commutingsolutions.org.
Welcome to the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging! Their mission is to deliver, fund, and advocate for services that promote well-being, independence, and dignity for older adults, people with disabilities, family caregivers, and veterans in Boulder County.
