Neighbors VP Team Gifts Cristo Rey HS Teachers with $7,000 of Teaching Supplies
Neighbors' team of vice presidents surprised Cristo Rey Franciscan High School teachers with more than $7,000 worth of school supplies from their Christmas wish list. The supplies included reading materials, writing supplies, an Elmo projector, tables, seats, storage materials and more.

This day of giving back continues a long-standing annual tradition for Neighbors vice presidents. At the end of every year, the vice presidents will purchase, wrap and provide Christmas presents to those in need in the Baton Rouge area.

Neighbors has partnered with Cristo Rey through its Corporate Work Study Program since the school opened in 2016. This program allows students to gain valuable work experience while in school by working with an organization roughly once a week. Neighbors has taken on multiple students each semester and allowed them to work with various departments such as Marketing, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Compliance and more.

Cristo Rey is one of many schools across the Greater Baton Rouge area still operating out of temporary modular buildings after the main campus took on four feet of water during the flood in 2016.

"It was such a pleasure to help out a school like Cristo Rey," Neighbors Vice President of Human Resources Yolanda Whitmore said. "They have been an excellent partner in their Corporate Work Study program, which has allowed a few of their students to come be a part of the Neighbors family"  "The school lost nearly everything in the flood of 2016, so we are glad to help play a small part in their recovery process."
Pelican State CU
Supports Teachers Across Louisiana
For the 2nd year, Pelican State Credit Union hosted a  Bulletin Board Contest to support teachers in its branch communities. All Louisiana teachers were invited to submit photos of their bulletin board for a chance to win up to $350 for their classroom.

Photos were featured in an  album on Pelican's Facebook page to let fans vote for their favorites. One winner was chosen in each branch parish, and the top three winners received an extra $100. The credit union gave away $3,050 to 12 teachers across the state, and the entries received a combined 6,603 votes!

Quote of the Week:
"As we struggle with shopping lists and invitations, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation, and people to whom we are worth the same."
